#Wateractivities, from swimming to boating, offer great enjoyment but also come with risks. According to the CDC, there are about 4,000 unintentional drownings in the United States each year, including boating-related incidents, averaging 11 deaths per day. Additionally, for every child who dies from #drowning, another eight receive emergency department care for non-fatal drowning incidents. To ensure a memorable and safe experience: 👉🏽 It's crucial to follow safety guidelines 👉🏽 Wear life jackets 👉🏽 Supervise children 👉🏽 Be mindful of water conditions. 😎 Train your workforce about Summer Safety: https://lnkd.in/eCr4vmPp ⬇️ Download a FREE Microlearning Topical Overview on us ✅: https://lnkd.in/gjY7EYTK #safetytraining #safetyawareness #trainingsolutions

This Water Safety Month, the Haines City Fire Department encourages everyone to adopt the National Drowning Prevention Alliance's layers of protection. These critical measures are designed to enhance safety and prevent drowning around water: 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗺𝘀: Ensure your pool is surrounded by fencing with self-closing and self-latching gates. Alarms on gates, doors, and windows can alert you if someone accesses the pool area unexpectedly. 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: Maintain active, focused adult supervision at all times when children are in or near water. 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆: Promote swimming skills and water safety education among all family members and ensure everyone knows how to swim well. 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀: Equip all inexperienced swimmers and guests with life jackets when swimming in pools or natural bodies of water. 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Familiarize yourself with basic water rescue techniques and ensure that life-saving devices such as life rings and a first aid kit are accessible near your swimming area. Implementing these layers of protection can make a significant difference in maintaining a safe water environment. Let’s take the steps needed to ensure our community enjoys a safe and fun Water Safety Month! 🌊💦Water Safety is key! As we gear up for the summer season, let's make sure we prioritize safety around water. 💙 Here are some important reminders to keep in mind: 1️⃣ Always supervise children closely around water, whether it's a pool, beach, or bathtub. Drowning can happen quickly and silently, so never leave them unattended. 🧒🏊♀️ 2️⃣ Learn CPR! Having this life-saving skill can make all the difference in an emergency situation. Take a course and stay prepared to help others in need. 🤝💪 3️⃣ Fence it off! Install a secure fence around your pool to prevent unauthorized access. This extra barrier can give you peace of mind and keep kids and pets safe. 🚧🏊♂️🐕 4️⃣ Teach everyone to swim. Enroll yourself and your loved ones in swimming lessons to build confidence and ensure everyone can enjoy the water safely. 🌊🏊♀️ 5️⃣ Avoid risky behavior. No running by the poolside or diving in shallow water. Follow the rules and caution signs to minimize the risk of accidents. 🚫🏃♂️🤿 Let's make this summer the safest one yet! Enjoy the water responsibly and make memories that will last a lifetime. 💦🌞 #WaterSafety #SafetyFirst #SwimSafe #WAVEDrowningPreventionSystems #DrowningPrevention #SwimSafety

As we dive into Water Safety Month, let’s ensure our swimming areas are up to code and safe for everyone. In Haines City, we prioritize your safety with specific requirements for residential pools: 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: Keep your pools clean, sanitary, and in good repair. 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀: All pools deeper than 24 inches must have barriers at least 48 inches tall, with self-closing and self-latching gates to prevent unsupervised access. 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀: Florida law requires residential pools to have at least one safety feature, such as a pool barrier that isolates the pool from the home, alarms on doors and windows that access the pool, or an approved pool cover. Remember, these measures are not just recommendations—they are requirements designed to prevent accidents and save lives. Let's make sure our swimming experiences are both fun and safe!
