ST Engineering North America’s Post

Our Women@Work June spotlight is on Nerissa Tay: Nerissa has been with ST Engineering since 2018 and is currently a part of the U.S. Sustainability team at ST Engineering North America headquarters. Though she was trained in Mechanical Engineering, her love for nature pushed her to complete a master's in Environmental Engineering. Nerissa’s interest in sustainability was built on her love for animals and the forests that co-existed on the mountains and in the sea (yes, there are forests in the sea too!). In her free time, she enjoys hiking, rock climbing and diving.   Through her role in sustainability, and her own personal experience in a male-dominated industry, Nerissa is convinced on the importance of the Women@Work agenda. “I come from a family of strong women who have managed to break gender-barriers to become the best version of themselves. Being exposed to these possibilities at an early age has shaped my own professional journey and gave me courage to confront work challenges head-on. I recognize that not everyone has had the opportunity to have such strong female role models in their lives and this has inspired me to join Women@Work to provide resources to our fellow female colleagues and demonstrate the power of solidarity and support. I also believe that part of our work involves inspiring the men in our lives to become female allies while acknowledging the unique struggles faced by men and supporting them in this journey. Gender equality is the goal.” #STEngineering #Womenempowerment #Genderequality
