Anthony, our AVP of Engineering, has been an integral part of our team, embodying dedication, innovation, and unwavering commitment throughout his tenure. We recently asked Anthony 2 questions about the past decade with BetterSleep to understand a little more about what has been most meaningful to him - check out his responses below: **What are you most proud of accomplishing during your past decade with BetterSleep?** “It's challenging to single out one accomplishment over the past decade, given the journey we've had. However, I take pride in the lean-and-mean approach we adopted to build BetterSleep and nurture our development team. As a bootstrap company, we had to be creative in maintaining cost-efficient infrastructure while fostering a highly effective dev team capable of high velocity. Our ability to quickly deliver quality with limited resources has not only impressed newcomers but also contributed to the company's growth, culminating in the acquisition by Teladoc in 2021.” **When you think back on your time with BetterSleep, what is one of your favorite moments or memories?** “Reflecting on my journey with BetterSleep, countless cherished memories flood my mind. Among them, the camaraderie and joy shared during our various team gatherings stand out. From intimate office gatherings during our early days to epic chalet off-sites, beach and camping outings, these moments encapsulate the essence of BetterSleep's vibrant culture. Have you ever been on a dream team?  Here’s what ours looks like… This week Forte HQ is on a company offsite.  Our entire US team flew 🛩️ in from different parts of the country to be together in one of the most epic places in California called Lake Tahoe 🌲 🌊 ❄️. Aside from the love and laughter we have when we're all together, there’s a purpose behind it all. 👉 TO REMEMBER OUR PASSION & MISSION - Forte was built out of a passion to see that every employee in the working world thrives.  Unlocking that inner strength became our mission 👉 TO CALL OUT REGRET AND REVERSE IT - Our team was challenged with the idea of identifying that one thing that could potentially become a work-life regret, and to set it on course to reverse it.  (I’m working on 3 that I’ll share in another post) 👉 TO PRACTICE WHAT WE PREACH - This is one of the hardest working teams I’ve ever been on.  But the value of jumping out of the rushing river of work, and to sit on the shore to reflect, rest and rechard is life-giving.  It’s the very thing we call people to. 👉 TO STRATEGIZE AND STEWARD - We’ve been entrusted with resources and capital, AND have a crazy growing client base that’s experiencing work-life transformation in real time.  Our time away affords us the space to bring the best possible outcomes for those we serve. 🌟 And now for the sports news from Team Wellington Careers and Employment–Ratonga Rapu Mahi! 🌟 Our awesome team at Victoria University of Wellington Careers and Employment is gearing up for some serious FUN as we take on the Victoria University of Wellington staff lawn bowls event on February 17th – just in time for Valentine's Day! ❤️ Here's why we believe team activities, such as lawn bowls, are a game-changer for any work squad: 1.      Team bonding and collaboration: Engaging in fun activities outside the office fosters a sense of camaraderie and strengthens the bonds among colleagues. Lawn bowls provide the perfect setting for everyone to connect, share a laugh, and create stories. 2.      Physical activity without the sweat: The sport of lawn bowls strikes (get it) the right balance between physical activity and a laid-back atmosphere. It's a fantastic way to get moving without breaking a sweat, making it inclusive for all fitness levels. A breath of fresh air can do wonders for morale! 3.      Strategic thinking: Just like in the workplace, lawn bowls requires strategy and teamwork. Figuring out the best approach to each shot, anticipating opponents' moves, and working together towards a common goal – it's a simulation of the strategic thinking needed in our day-to-day work. 4.      Laughter for mental well-being: And what better way to relieve stress than through shared laughter? Attempting lawn bowls injects a healthy dose of humour into our team dynamics, building well-being and a sense of perspective (I hope!). As we round up our celebrations for our 3rd Year Anniversary in this month of May 2024, we would like to share one motivation nugget: Never despise humble beginnings. iHR Active started off in a bedroom office, to a container office, and now we occupy an office wing with 5 offices. Our aim is to own an office building, we are no where near this vision by any standards. BUT, we are certainly not where we were 3years ago. Keep pushing. Stay sharp. Congratulations to Joy Sivilay on celebrating her 5-year anniversary with Hungerford Properties! Joy is a highly valued member of the team who demonstrates outstanding dedication, professionalism, and proficiency in her role as Development Accounts Coordinator. Joy is dependable, accountable and manages multiple tasks and deadlines with ease. Her positive attitude and ability to build trusting and engaging relationships across the organization is so appreciated and has a big impact on our collaborative team culture. Joy exemplifies the Hungerford values on a daily basis, and we thank her for all her contributions over the last 5 years. Q: What is your favourite part of your job? A: I love the people I work with and the enormous amount of autonomy I’m granted. I know my boss has my back 100% which allows me to do my job with confidence. I work with a group of talented, caring and supportive individuals, who come from all walks of life and have varying degrees of experience - I have learned so much from all of them. Q: What is your favourite thing to do on the weekends? A: SLEEP!!! I’m kind of joking. If the weather is bad, I love to curl up on the couch and binge watch my favorite TV shows/movie series and/or read a good book. If the weather is nice and the sun is out, I need to be outside. I’m either hiking, camping, playing beach volleyball/softball or just straight up suntanning. Q: What career advice would you give to your younger self? A: Try to work and surround yourself with people whose values align with your own. Gain as much experience and absorb as much information as you can from every job. Street knowledge is just as important as book knowledge and can’t be taught in a classroom – it only comes with experience. Also, success isn’t just measured by a salary and a title; it’s measured by who you are as a person and how you treat others. Never forget who you are, where you came from and the strength it took to get where you’re at. Q: What is a recent book or movie you would recommend? A: Everything Everywhere All at Once – it’s not recently released but it’s a movie that I would highly recommend. It’s weird, funny, action packed, emotionally charged; it’s a beautifully written/acted story about love and family. #MeettheTeam #HungerfordProperties
