ICYMI: Would a modified standard power supply be the solution to your problems? Our latest blog post dives deeper into why we offer modified standard design solutions, tailoring elements of an off-the-shelf (OTS) converter’s feature set to meet the specific demands of a particular application. This approach allows the system requirements to drive power supply functionality, rather than allowing the power supply to dictate system constraints. Oftentimes, a modified standard power supply is ultimately the most cost-effective and lowest-risk solution. 💪 Protecting the Overloading Power Transformer: Five Tips! Overload power transformer protection involves both limiting the load and detecting overloads. Follow five hints concepts that you must know!! 1️⃣ Transformer Capacity and Load Design: Designing the system so that the transformer capacity exceeds the total connected load, assuming diversity in load usage. 2️⃣ Cost of Overload Protection: Providing overload protection by designing for excess capacity can be expensive. Take this in your mind! 3️⃣ Challenges with Excess Capacity: Changes in load growth and operating procedures can negate the extra capacity required for overload protection. 4️⃣ Engineering Best Practice: Sizing the transformer at about 125% of the present load to accommodate system growth and changes in load diversity. 5️⃣ Lower-Than-ANSI Temperature Rise Specification: Specifying a temperature rise below ANSI standards allows for an overload capability.
