Russia’s East group occupies better positions, Ukrainian forces lose up to 110 soldiers Over the past 24 hours, units of Russia’s East battlegroup occupied more advantageous positions, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 110 servicemen, the Russian Defense Ministry reported. "The units of Russia’s East battlegroup occupied more advantageous positions, defeated the formations of the 72nd mechanized, 58th motorized infantry brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the 102nd, and 105th territorial defense brigades in the areas of the settlements Vodyanoye, Prechistovka, Rivnepol in the Donetsk People's Republic, Dorozhnyanka in the Zaporozhye Region. The enemy lost up to 110 servicemen," the report said. It was also noted that the Ukrainian forces lost two vehicles, a US-made M777 155mm howitzer, a Bukovel-AD electronic warfare station, and a US-made AN/TPQ-50 anti-aircraft radar. Lithuanian Defence Minister Laurynas Kasčiūnas has announced plans to establish its first-ever tank battalion and acquire new tracked infantry fighting vehicles.   Currently, the Lithuanian Armed Forces do not have a dedicated tank unit, but this will change with the formation of the new battalion, expected to be equipped with German-made Leopard 2 main battle tanks. To complement these tanks, the Lithuanian military plans to procure tracked infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs), enhancing operational synergy and effectiveness across varied terrains. Units of Russia’s Battlegroup Center continued seizing more advantageous sites and positions in the Avdeyevka area over the past day in their well-coordinated operations. They inflicted damage by firepower on the personnel and military hardware of the Ukrainian army’s 24th, 31st, 47th and 61st mechanized brigades near the communities of Netailovo, Novosyolovka Pervaya and Toretsk in the Donetsk People’s Republic, it specified. "They also repulsed three attacks by Ukrainian army units near the settlements of Kirovo, Berdychi and Shumy and ten counterattacks near the communities of Tonenkoye, Pervomaiskoye and Orlovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic. The enemy lost as many as 500 personnel, 4 armored combat vehicles, including a Bradley infantry fighting vehicle and an M113 armored personnel carrier of US manufacture, 4 motor vehicles and a D-30 howitzer," the ministry reported. #business #finance #financialservices

👏 Finnish defense contractor Patria has teamed with German partners to offer an armored personnel carrier for Berlin’s Fuchs replacement effort. 🪖 New artillery system for the Swiss Armed Forces 🪖 Our ground troops today have various main systems which will reach the end of their useful life over the coming years. They no longer meet the current requirements for operations and need to be replaced by more modern systems. A project is currently running with the aim of evaluating and procuring suitable successors for the M109 self-propelled howitzers. The Federal Office for Defence Procurement armasuisse is responsible for handling this procurement. According to armasuisse: “The evaluation phase is of crucial importance in such a project”. The project team ensures that the project goals and military requirements are met and that the legal aspects as well as the procurement procedures are complied with”. Three systems from two manufacturers have been determined and tested: ➡️ RCH 155 with Boxer carrier platform ➡️ Archer mobile howitzer with HX carrier platform ➡️ AGM Artillery Gun Module with Piranha carrier platform From a technical viewpoint, the three systems have been extensively tested. In a further step during the troop trials, it was checked whether our conscript soldiers can also operate the systems. Czech Republic Negotiates Acquisition of Leopard 2A4 Tanks from Germany The Czech Republic is engaged in discussions with Germany to acquire up to 30 Leopard 2A4 tanks, according to statements from the Czech Defence Ministry. Fifteen of these tanks are proposed as a gift in recognition of Czech military support for Ukraine, while negotiations are underway to purchase an additional 15 tanks from the German defence industry. This move aligns with the Czech Republic's transition away from Soviet-era equipment towards modernization. If successful, the Czech Republic could possess 42 Leopard 2A4 main battle tanks, enhancing its military capabilities. The Leopard tanks, produced jointly by Rheinmetall and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann, symbolize a strategic shift in the Czech Army's arsenal.
