Stanwell Power Station's transformation into a Clean Energy Hub is in full swing! Construction has officially commenced on a massive 300 MW / 1200 MWh battery project at the site – the largest battery project of its kind in Queensland! The $747 million battery project was recently supercharged with around $448 million in funding boost from the Queensland Government’s Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Jobs Fund. This enabled us to double its capacity from two to four hours duration. Meanwhile, construction on Stanwell’s first energy storage project, the 300MW / 600 MWh Tarong battery, has reached its halfway mark. Upon completion, these incredible projects will enhance Stanwell's renewable energy capacity and contribute significantly to Queensland's energy future. The big batteries will play crucial roles in the energy transition by stabilising energy supply from renewable sources, ensuring affordable and reliable electricity for our commercial and industrial customers in Queensland and the Eastern Seaboard. And they are a key piece of our commitment to achieving 5GW of energy storage by 2035 and highlights Stanwell's vision for a sustainable and innovative energy future.
