We provide the spark for a bright future

About us

At Stanwell, we provide the spark for a bright future. As Queensland transforms to 80 per cent renewable energy by 2035, Stanwell is building our state’s clean energy future. We invest in reliable energy today, and renewable energy for tomorrow – creating opportunities for our people and communities. With Queensland's largest pipeline of renewable generation and storage in development, we already have an extensive supply of clean energy underway. As our renewable energy production increases to meet demand, we will gradually repurpose our existing power stations into clean energy hubs, replacing coal-fired energy with clean, renewable energy in line with the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan. And while this transformation is undertaken, our coal-fired Tarong and Stanwell power stations will continue to generate reliable electricity to keep downward pressure on prices. At Stanwell we are committed to creating a bright future for our state and our people, helping them realise opportunities from the energy transformation. Stanwell is an energy employer for everyone. We foster an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone is embraced and respected. Our values - We care, We adapt and We deliver - are the foundation of our culture and underpin our success.

  • Meet Virginia, a Senior Health and Safety Advisor who plays a crucial role in ensuring safety remains Stanwell’s top priority as we move towards our renewable future. Building on the systems and protocols we’ve refined over decades at our thermal power stations, Virginia and her team are now applying those same high standards to the innovative and fast-evolving renewable energy sector. This National Safe Work Month, we acknowledge the important work of people like Virginia, who are helping build a safer future for all Queenslanders. Thank you, Virginia!

The renewable energy sector is characterised by its innovative technologies and ambitious projects. It’s a rapidly evolving field, and safety is absolutely critical to ensure the wellbeing of workers now and long into the future. Queenslanders like Virginia, a Senior Health and Safety Adviser at Stanwell Corporation Limited, are key to this effort. With October being Safe Work Month, we thought it would be a good time to touch base and learn more about the nature of her role and how she is helping improve safe work practices. “My role within the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) team is varied and involves comprehensive planning and collaboration with operations teams to meet environmental protection requirements, develop and implement risk management strategies, maintain regulatory compliance, and deliver safety systems that benefit, or enhance, the health, safety, and wellbeing of our people,” she explained. Stanwell is at the forefront of Queensland’s energy transition, and Virginia points out that they are well-equipped and committed to ensuring the highest standards of safety. “Although some of the technology that will deliver renewable energy generation is still developing, the current systems and experience within our ranks provide the platform for a smooth transition.” Thank you to all the WH&S advisers like Virginia for making safety an indispensable part of the renewable energy journey and for improving the lives of energy workers and everyday Queenslanders across the state. • Future energy innovation! Stanwell's General Manager of Future Energy Origination, Chris Peet, recently had the pleasure of contributing to an engaging panel discussion at this week's 40th Anniversary Flow Battery Innovation Symposium at the University of NSW, an event that celebrated the 40th anniversary of the vanadium redox flow battery (VFB.) As Stanwell continues to grow its renewable energy portfolio, we are also investigating new technologies that can play a role in our future portfolio, including Vanadium Flow battery technology. It was fantastic to be able to share information relating to Stanwell's approach to the future benefits and challenges surround emerging energy technologies, and congratulations to UNSW on hosting this great event. #energysfuture #vanadiumflowbattery #energygeneration #batterytechnology
