Interns have huge value...
...if you let them!
As an elder millennial, I only ever heard of interns fetching coffee and making copies whilst growing up, and that's the impression I think most people of similar age had of internships.
Times have definitely changed and thank goodness for that!
Yesterday we had our third annual Intern Showcase where several of our amazing interns spoke about the impactful projects they have been working on this summer.
These are projects that will really benefit our business and I'm just loving what internships can be when you have a well-structured program that looks to benefit both interns AND the company.
Its also important to me that they are given an opportunity to not only share their work, but to be able to build their presentation skills to a wide audience of senior leadership - this is why I and my virtual coffee hour co-chair launched this showcase three years ago.
We wanted to make sure that our incredible interns felt supported and engaged with the rest of their fellow employees, making it a valuable summer for everyone.
Who else has had a less-than-stellar internship experience when starting out? Do you see the same changes I see in today's internship programs?
