Advancing self-driving cars using a remote driving station! 🚗 Meet Integrated Engineering Students Parker Gu, Tony Jiang, Rowan Zawadski, Mankanwar Singh and Harrison Narvey. They created a remote driving system for people to connect to and navigate self-driving vehicles, allowing them to avoid hazards beyond the algorithm. "While artificial intelligence excels at recognizing patterns and predicting events based on observed data, the situations encountered on our roadways are often unpredictable. Human intuition, judgment and the ability to understand social cues are still necessary to navigate complex scenarios." Learn more about their #UBCEngineering capstone project! ⤵️

🎓 Graduated! I am excited to share that I have completed my Master’s degree in Robotics from TU Delft. My thesis, titled "Mode Collapse Happens: Evaluating Critical Interactions in Joint Trajectory Prediction Models", was awarded an 8.5/10 grade. My research focused on evaluating trajectory prediction models, which are essential for autonomous vehicles to plan safe and collision-free paths. I developed a novel evaluation framework to explicitly assess the interaction modes among vehicle trajectories, providing researchers with new insights and ultimately enhancing the safety of autonomous driving systems. You can read more about it here: https://lnkd.in/eyQTypST I would also like to thank my supervisors, Anna Mészáros and Zlatan Ajanović, for their guidance and support throughout my research. For now, I’m taking some time to recharge and carefully consider my next career steps. If you have exciting opportunities in motorsport, robotics, or AI, please feel free to reach out! #Graduation #TUDelft #Robotics #Thesis #AutonomousVehicles #TrajectoryPrediction #CareerOpportunities #MotorSport #Robotics #AI

🌟 Mid-Year Reflection on an Amazing 2024! 🌟 Time flies, and here we are halfway through 2024! This year has been incredible, filled with opportunities, growth, and exciting experiences. 🔹 I kicked off the year with an incredible opportunity at Rober Bosch GmbH in Stuttgart, working on my master thesis in Model Predictive Control for the Motion Control of Automated Vehicles. This role has allowed me to blend my passions for automotive technology, control systems, and autonomous vehicles. Over the past three months, I’ve gained extensive knowledge in optimal and robust control, working with open-source solvers like CasADi and Acados, and using toolboxes like the Multi-Parametric Toolbox for MATLAB. I’ve also delved into the challenges of safety-critical systems and the practicalities of controlling real-sized vehicles. I'm eager to continue learning and contributing over the next three months as I complete my thesis. 🔹 This year, I also had the privilege of attending two remarkable conferences: the European Robotic Forum in Rimini and the European MATLAB Automotive Conference in Stuttgart. These events provided a deep dive into advancements in Robotics, Automated Driving, ADAS, AI, and Data. A highlight was participating in the Robotic Dog Challenge at the European Robotic Forum, where I worked with the Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna team on navigation and search-and-rescue algorithms for the Unitree Go1 Robotic Dog, honing my skills in Robotics Software Development using C++ and the ROS framework. Reflecting on these experiences, I couldn’t have asked for a better start to 2024. It’s been a tight and busy year! I flew to Stuttgart to start at Bosch just two days after the European Robotic Forum ended. Despite the whirlwind schedule, it has been absolutely worth it, given the invaluable experiences and competencies I’m gaining. I’m looking forward to what the rest of the year holds and am excited about further immersing myself in the field of autonomous systems, whether in vehicles or robotics. My goal is to build a fulfilling career in this dynamic field post-graduation. 🚀 Here’s to more learning, growth, and innovation in the months to come! #AutonomousSystems #Automotive #Robotics #MachineLearning #ControlSystems #CareerGrowth #2024Achievements
