US$21 Mln Funding When we look at the dynamics that reveal the concept of Industry 4.0, a number of factors such as the huge developments in the digital world and the cyber-physical systems they create, billions of devices that can communicate with each other, called the internet of things, and the ability to process big data come to the fore. Imagine factories that possess the collective knowledge and expertise of all engineers and machinists who have ever worked in them, and can produce the most challenging parts with superhuman reliability and 10 times efficiency. This imagination explains the concept of Industry 4.0, also called the 4th Industrial Revolution. The main steps in Industry 4.0 include collecting and pre-processing manufacturing data, developing and testing AI models, and putting them into production. These algorithms are then plugged into various applications that aim to improve everything from product quality and manufacturing processes to overall operational efficiency. NICHE TO MAINSTREAM Revolutionizing how we build everything from microchips to critical medical components will not only unleash the potential of numerous industries but optimize inventory management, ensuring factories have just the right amount of materials on hand to support the supply chain in case of any future disruption. With AI-powered factories, manufacturers can combine data from sensors, machines, and people to optimize production and maintenance processes, improve product quality, and answer the personalization needs of the end customer. One of the startups building AI-powered factories is Daedalus. Daedalus is a technology company building factories using AI. Daedalus is on a mission to build factories for precision parts. Founded by Jonas Schneider, the startup is already producing critical components for companies in the semiconductor, defense, energy, e-mobility and medical sectors. Its software-controlled and automated production facilities use software to control and holistically optimize the shop floor operation and AI to automate many of the manual tasks involved in production. This software-defined approach to manufacturing enables the production of any new part with minimal human intervention and allows team members with minimal training to take its customers’ mission-critical designs from CAD to finished parts with superhuman precision, reliability, and speed. Daedalus has raised a $21 million funding round. The company will use the fund to further develop its proprietary Manufacturing AI Platform and scale its production facilities. #funding #ai #factory #startup #precision #part #manufacturing #vc

#IntelInvestsInBuildots Intel Capital Leads $15M Round in AI Construction Tech Startup Buildots 🏗️ Intel Capital has led a $15 million investment round in Buildots, a startup using AI and computer vision to digitize construction sites. This funding brings Buildots' total raised to $121 million. By creating digital twins of construction sites, Buildots aims to help engineers optimize workflows, identify bottlenecks, and reduce costs. Intel’s investment highlights the growing importance of AI in the construction industry, a sector traditionally slow to embrace digital transformation. 🏢 Intel, involved in massive construction projects such as multi-billion-dollar chip manufacturing plants, sees significant potential in Buildots' technology. Buildots claims its platform can reduce construction delays by up to 50%, offering substantial cost savings. The startup's new "delay forecast" tool uses AI to predict potential delays, allowing for pre-emptive actions. What other industries do you think could benefit from AI-driven digital twins? 🌍 #Intel #Buildots #AI #ConstructionTech #DigitalTwins #Investment #TechInnovation #Saasverse

Belgium’s Robovision inked a $42m deal in March to bring computer vision intelligence to industrial machinery, while Switzerland’s EthonAI raised a $16.5m Series A in May for software that predicts maintenance needs and catches quality issues early. 🔹Further evidence of a swell in AI manufacturing can be seen in the $28.5m Series B for UK-founded Oden Technologies, now based in New York, in April, while Apple a month earlier acquired Canadian startup DarwinAI, which visually inspects components during the manufacturing process. 🔹So-called predictive maintenance startups in Europe are suddenly experiencing VC love. aiomatic Solutions — based in Germany, as so many of these manufacturing startups are — raised €2m in January for a system that detects potential machine faults early and helps reduce downtime. Tomorrow Things, also German, raised €1.5m in March for a similar product. 🔹At the same time, we should expect to see more digital assistants enter factories. Stuttgart-based Assemblio creates animated step-by-step assembly guides for workers — the company raised €2.1m in February. Startups are also mining factory data to develop new safety tools: Sweden’s Buddywise raised €3.5m in March for a system that keeps a logbook of events marked urgent in factories, like when a forklift travels into an area it shouldn’t.
