With our support for them at Auspice Condiments, my beliefs have strengthened: 1. Autistic people are an intrinsic part of our society and need understanding, support and opportunities, not charity or misplaced compassion. 2. Just like others, the majority of persons with Autism want a dignified and productive life. 3. Persons with Autism can make productive employees with the right support and training. The best and most effective way to improve lives of autistic adults is to provide more employment access for them and help them to become productive. Autistic workers at our facility are engaged in food processing activities like the cleaning, sorting, grading, grinding, blending, packaging and labeling of spices, herbs and seasonings.

#iitbombay: Innovation for Impact Last week, I had the opportunity to play Jury to the #ESG track at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay's Eureka 2024, their Ecell’s startup festival. Stepping away from the usual #tech focus, I was eager to see what kind of groundbreaking ideas were emerging in the #sustainability space. And let me tell you, I was not disappointed! The #startups I encountered showcased not only a deep understanding of the challenges we face but also remarkable ingenuity in tackling them. Here are a few that truly stood out: 1. Auspice Condiments This e-commerce platform, run by young adults on the #autism spectrum, sells #spices at #market prices while breaking into major #FMCG distribution chains. The combination of social impact and competitive pricing makes them a force to be reckoned with. Kudos to Parag Ghosh and Richa for leading the way! 2. Krishi Inspiro. This innovative startup, founded by Ashish, harnesses the power of blue-green #algae, designed by CSIR−Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), to remove heavy #metals from #irrigation #water. This promises a 25–30% increase in crop #yield for #farmers, demonstrating the power of #technology for positive agricultural change. 3. Diya. Founded by Sirisha Shashikanth, Diya offers an #IoT powered panic button solution for women and the elderly. By sending emergency messages and GPS location signals to six designated contacts, it provides much-needed safety and security. These are just a glimpse into the inspiring landscape of sustainable startups emerging from IIT Bombay. The sheer diversity and depth of these ideas highlight the growing focus on addressing social and environmental challenges through innovation. It’s truly heartening to see such a shift towards responsible #entrepreneurship, and I have no doubt that these startups have the potential to create a significant positive impact. A big thanks to my fellow jury members, Arijit Sarkar (Trifecta Capital), Kapil Dhiman, and Amit Karve (JPMorgan Chase & Co.) for the stimulating discussions. And a special shoutout to Atharv and @Nisarg from the The Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Bombay for organizing this insightful event. Let’s continue to support and celebrate these changemakers, who are using their talents to build a more sustainable and equitable future!
