"Rob was a ready mix driver, then manager at our St. Ansgar, Iowa location. He ran a portable plant for two different wind farm projects in Iowa and then became manager of our Osage, Iowa plant. When we expanded into Kansas and Oklahoma, Rob threw his hat in to go down and oversee the ready mix division there. He had quite the challenge between equipment, hiring and picking up work, but he has excelled, and the South division doesn’t look anything like it did 4 years ago. Rob is the definition of hard work, leading by example and getting your hands dirty. He is the first one to jump in a mixer when we are shorthanded, wrench on a truck that needs work, or fix a plant issue that came up. Our South division would not be as successful as it is without all his hard work. Thank you Rob." Last night at Council, we discussed the ongoing issue of leash-free dog areas. As I mentioned at the meeting, the Highland Gate area should not be considered for the addition of a leash-free zone. The Highland Gate park was developed after extensive discussions between the developer, staff, council, and residents, and the settlement agreement outlined what the park would and would not include and it did not include a leash free zone. I’m glad that after hearing from neighboring residents, Council decided to remove Highland Gate from consideration and any future discussions about leash-free areas. We should always involve the neighborhood in discussions about leash-free areas before Council makes a decision. After thorough deliberation, I am pleased that Council passed the following motion with a 7-0 vote: 1. That staff identify suitable areas in Aurora for dog leash-free zones and/or trails, specifically on the west side, and report back to Council. 2. That public consultation take place on the proposed areas before reporting back. 3. That Highland Gate be removed from consideration for an off-leash dog area. This ensures that before any future leash-free area is considered , (this includes the hydro corridor) that the neighborhood is consulted and fully informed. It also guarantees that the Highland Gate park area will remain as agreed upon by residents, the Town, and the developer as a passive park through the settlement agreement. https://lnkd.in/g2GgVn3C

This post isn’t about recruitment or open positions. Not everything needs to be about work, or money, and right now I desire to use my social media for something that breaks my heart. The UK is fighting the ban of XL bullys that will be in effect 01-01-24. They need our voice more than ever right now. Don’t let irresponsible owners represent their whole existence. Don’t let uneducated politicians rip out dogs from their homes and make owners put down the only thing that matters the world to them. YES, I agree and I am educated enough to know any dog breed can be a danger in the wrong hands, especially bigger breeds. From husky’s, German shepards, dogos, Rottweiler, pitbull, and so on. Bad owners should be punished or banned from owning. Not banning their existence. My male pit has been bullied and attacked by mainly huskys and German shepherds at dog parks. He always has ran to me for protection, and never has attacked back. To me it’s not the dog breed, it’s the owner. Period. And the reason I stopped going to dog parks..the bad owners. This doesn’t mean animals won’t be animals, and we always have to be ready. But the right owner can prevent a bad situation from ever happening. As a dog owner, we need to educate ourselves, be prepared, be in the know of your dogs energy and looks. Pay attention. By not doing so, especially if an owner of an “aggressive” breed, it can cause damage to others, your dog, laws, and so much more. Do you have any English pet peeves? Mine is: “I could care less” I’m not sure when people started saying this, but it drives me crazy. It literally means the exact opposite of what the person is trying to say. I get what they’re trying to say, but they’re saying it completely wrong. I wish I could say I couldn’t care less about this common blunder. But I could care less. Way less. Just like I care about my work. I could care a lot less about how we service our clients. I could care so much less about our work in the real estate marketplace. But for anything else…I couldn’t care less. “It’s really hard to imagine you as a farm girl in wellies…” is what one of my work colleagues said to me. But I’ve always been a farm girl, long before I was known for my wardrobe & collection of stilettos. 👠 I had the pleasure of growing up surrounded by animals, and still am to this day, and my bringing up has a great deal to do with my strengths at work today but I didn’t make the connection until later in life… It was a few years ago, upon hearing how polar bears were starting to climb trees and turn vegetarian, I first asked the question, “why?” And after writing the stories that interested me most, and understanding why individuals pursued the careers they did and how it could all be linked to a certain spark— a certain moment in time forever imprinted on them, I then began to wonder, “why was I good at the things I was good at? “ That’s when I began to connect the dots to my bringing up. It was growing up on a farm where I first learned responsibility and developed stamina and a hard work ethic. It was taking care of a variety of animals where I developed the ability to multitask. It was sometimes taking care of our farm alone where I developed time management skills, how to analyze how long specific tasks would take me and how to prioritize. It was there I learned and implemented process management and became quicker at completing tasks. And it was growing up on a farm, where anything can happen at any given time, I first developed and excelled my problem solving skills and learned to become innovative, and calm minded in the midst of a crisis. All my best qualities & skills today, can be directly linked to growing up on a farm… the same little farm you see a glimpse of in the video below. Taken this weekend when we moved our chickens & ducks to their summer quarters. It turns out our pets might be influencing how we spend our money! Cat people seem to be more cautious shoppers, while dog lovers might be a little more adventurous with their cash.
