As the son of a State Farm independent contractor agent, Koy Jasperson was immersed in the world of State Farm from a young age. He recalls playing with his favorite toys, State Farm wooden planes and teddy bears, and closing his eyes whenever a competitor's marketing commercial came on TV. "I've had the pleasure of meeting so many kind individuals within this company who have become like family to me. However, I never desired to follow in my dad's footsteps. I wanted to carve my own path." To support himself and his wife during college, Koy decided to work in his father's agent office. "After making the decision to pursue a different path, I had a conversation with my dad about my plans. He remained supportive but encouraged me to explore other opportunities with State Farm before finalizing my decision. Ironically enough, a corporate position as an Agency Field Specialist happened to be available in our area. I decided to apply and was later offered the position. “Serving five years in this role, I gained a deep understanding of the agent opportunity and the impact it can have on State Farm customers, team members, and the community. It was during this time I realized this was the career I truly desired. I took the leap and opened my own agent office in 2019. I did it on my terms and I haven't looked back since.” Learn more about becoming a State Farm independent contractor agent: https://lnkd.in/giWjAvk9

I guess that’s the only way you get a job at State Farm is if you’re the son of an owner
Congrats to 5 years, Koy! Your Dad gave you great advice! :) I'm sure he's proud of you.
The “closing his eyes during competitors commercials” reminds me of my 4 year old son and I got emotional 🥹 good thing it’s past office hours haha!
Thank you for sharing you story of your first 5 years. Here's to many more.
Congratulations on your 5-year anniversary!

2moGreat article. However, the only direction one can take to make a decent living in this field is an owner agent. As a regular agent, you can blow the sales out of the water but your commission will still be very minimal. So having a connection is huge.
