A new initiative, the Community InnoVHAtion Lab, is changing the #Agetech narrative by incorporating the lived experiences of older adults and caregivers to create a library of meaningful solutions for today and tomorrow’s challenges. The program bridges a gap between tech startups and end users by enabling testing in real world situations and real people’s homes, helping tech organizations better incorporate the needs and wants of older adults into their products before they hit the market. 🌱 Continuing with our consumer tech seed panel highlights - here’s some takeaways from Anam Lakhani of Alinea Invest and a note for consumer founders raising a round:
💡 For consumer apps, first impression is absolutely critical - Anam mentioned that Alinea optimized their onboarding flow through extensive testing, and they’ve increased retention by 30%
💡 For founders raising - consumer funding is down, but valuations are rising. This means an even higher standard for companies: stellar DAU/MAU, D30 retention, and delightful user experience

Why we are called the First Generation.Tech?
There is a whole world of first-time founders, who come from marginalized backgrounds, like women, people of color, and queer communities, who dare to start their first business and usually don't have entrepreneurial families, good connections, and direct access to wealth.
Their access to knowledge and resources is limited due to the discriminatory nature of the tech world. We want to change by providing an entry point to the world of good product decisions. Teach first-generation founders to make better choices based on data and user behavior, show shortcuts to prototyping, and techniques for product testing.
