SUNDAY is election day...and it is also the deadline for the next batch of the Founders Program! Had some fun pitching at START Global Start Summit in St. Gallen. I use the word “fun” because pitching to a generalist audience a topic about payments and data management can be not an easy task, especially in a two minutes short pitch. Definetely a good personal challenge to tackle, having some good pitching practice at an overall good event focused on tech and early stage startups for the DACH area. #tech #data #payments #intelligence

It’s been a hell of a ride in the last six months... I’m thrilled to announce that altrove has closed a €3.5 million round with investment by Contrarian Ventures, Emblem, and a number of high-profile business angels. This is what will enable us to build a self-driving lab and develop the AI and computational models to run that lab without human input. And why? Because we want to be faster. Materials development is glacial in comparison to the huge demand for critical materials that has come about due to the electrification of the world economy. We need novel materials faster than ever before. Altrove is all about the HOW: if we have a predicted or partially synthesised material, how do we turn that into a manufacturable asset that can be scaled up for industry? That is why we use AI to drive a lab, characterise the outputs, and feed that back to iterate on the manufacturing recipe. We produce the physical thing, because that is the only way we will truly know whether the properties stand up to scrutiny. This is not a journey I am on alone.
