When our potential Series B investors were diligencing, one of my early investors complained “the issue with Akshay is that he is always changing things, mixing them up”, ~ meaning to further say that won’t work as a trait / habit / style as we scale. VC-founder chambers are tiny. So the feedback ofc found its way to me soon. We / I didn’t listen. Not that thy should always rebel, but this specific time, I didn’t agree and just went about my business. 2.5 years since, believe the only reason we’ve fought hard and scaled, is because of THIS cultural DNA to experiment, to challenge everything, not letting any past scale scare us. To re-do entire acquisition mix, entire supply-mix in just 6-8 months. To pick up market intel like a deer 🦌 senses the tiger’s 🐅 feet & change course bunch of times. To do a 180-degree on GTMs twice in 18 mths, while continuing to scale at triple digit percent. To continue striving clarity, re a better and better fundamental lever of growth / a north metric we wrap ourselves around obsessively. And so on. Bottomline: suno sab ki, “seekho bhi sab se”, phir end mein ego ko side rakh kar “karo apni” 🫵🏽

Since stepping into the CEO role in January 2017 and then Chair in January 2023, Adena has applied her 20 years of industry experience to elevate Nasdaq into a top global exchange and tech pioneer. Her leadership has expanded Nasdaq’s presence across six continents, seamlessly integrating finance with cutting-edge technology. Before stepping into her current roles, Adena was Nasdaq’s President and COO, where she led efforts to streamline operations, innovate products, and fuel growth. She rejoined Nasdaq in 2014 after a notable tenure as CFO and Managing Director at The Carlyle Group, where she was key in their public offering. AEye, Inc. has lost (-99.63%) valuation since IPO in 2021. It’s sad to see Continental pulling off of their partnership. Just shows again. It’s f**** hard to build sth meaningful in tech! How to get out of this mess? Luis Dussan pushing for reinstating the founding leadership team seems to be a good first move. The energy and enthusiasm - unconditional love those individuals have for the product and company. Is unparalleled for sure. Own company = own baby - literally 😁 They be the best possible individuals to pull through these hard times. I don’t want to be in your shoes - but if I was… I’d… 1) start being very public and transparent about struggles - tell your story 2) get on camera and start „rebuilding in public“ 3) involve your community in next steps, have them vote for strategic moves 4) take your community into live sessions in the lab, on demo drives. - take your daily struggles and successes live online 5) LinkedIn and X(dot)com are your doors to the world - leverage them. One good thing amidst all this craziness… You don’t have to worry not more about your valuation 😁😮💨 No I mean it’s really sth public companies and companies in general tend to overthink radically. How will this look? Will this fall back on us? Where I reality not opening up harms you more. So if you wanted to take my 2 cents.. Open up, be transparent, be approachable, involve your community and shareholders in decisions, take them along the journey of rebuilding ❤️👏
