On the long list of things parents need to teach their kids in childhood is proper flossing, but plenty of adults don't know the best techniques themselves! We're here to help. 👍 Daily flossing should be a priority for anyone with two teeth that touch each other because brushing alone cannot remove the plaque and food debris in those spaces. The longer it remains and builds up, the more it contributes to gum disease, cavities, and worse. Parents should floss their child's teeth for them until they have the dexterity to do it themselves. Make it part of the daily routine. 🔄 Explain that flossing matters for keeping their smile healthy, and flossing is something big kids do like tying their shoes. Floss picks can also make the process easier instead of using string floss. Good flossing technique starts with pulling out about a foot and a half of floss and wrapping it loosely around the middle fingers, with an inch or two left in the middle to slip between the teeth. Don't just snap the floss down onto the gums, curve it around each tooth in a C-shape and gently work down. 🦷 Then rotate the floss along so that it's always clean floss being used for each new gap. Dirty floss won't clean teeth! #flossing #FlossingTechnique #CleanTeeth #dentist #dentalcare #cosmeticdentist #steckelbergdental #cosmeticdentist #childrensdentistry #ortho #orthodontictreatments #lincolnnb #lincoln

How to handle a knocked-out permanent tooth? • If any of your permanent tooth is knocked out, hold only the upper part of the tooth but not the root of the tooth, and place it in the tooth socket where it popped out. • Bite the knocked-out tooth in the socket by placing a small clean cloth over it. • Keeping the knocked-out tooth in the mouth, especially in the tooth socket enhances the chances of saving the tooth. • Visit a nearby dentist as soon as possible. How to handle a knocked-out milk tooth? • If the milk tooth is knocked out before the shedding age then saving the tooth is not required as it may damage the growing permanent tooth beneath the milk tooth. #Dental #Health #Education #contentwriting #information #toppost #knowledge

🦷 BRACES WEARERS! Here are some tips to keep your smile shining bright while wearing braces. 1. Brush and floss regularly to keep your braces clean and prevent plaque buildup. 🧼 2. Avoid hard and sticky foods that can damage your braces. Stick to softer options like yogurt and mashed potatoes. 🚫🍭 3. Attend all your scheduled appointments to ensure your braces are adjusted properly and your progress is on track. 👨⚕️ 4. Use wax or orthodontic relief wax to protect your cheeks and lips from irritation caused by your braces. 💬 5. Keep an emergency kit with orthodontic wax and a small mirror in case a wire or bracket comes loose. 🔧 Remember, the end result will be worth it! Keep smiling and stay on top of your braces care routine. 😉 #dentalprovider #bracesjourney #straightteeth #dentalcare #perfectsmile #braceslife 💪 #DentistryonMain #Brampton #Dentist #Pediatricdentist #DentalImplants #Invisalign #Teethwhitening #Dentures #Emergencydentist #Teethcleaning #dentistinbrampton

Let’s go back to the basics! As we step into the new year, let's make a resolution together: prioritize our kids' dental health! January marks the perfect time to revisit the fundamentals of oral care. Did you know that it's recommended to assist in brushing your child's teeth until they reach the age of 9? Yes, that’s right – 9 years old! The truth is, until the age of 9, kids may not have the dexterity to thoroughly clean their teeth. So, let's continue to lend a helping hand and ensure those pearly whites stay healthy and strong. Here's a quick refresher on the essentials: 🦷 Brushing Techniques: Use a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste and gently brush in small, circular motions. 🦷 Frequency: Brush at least twice a day, especially after meals and before bedtime. 🦷 Supervision: Stay involved and oversee brushing sessions until your child can effectively brush on their own. 🦷 Flossing Matters: As soon as teeth start touching, introduce flossing to remove plaque and prevent cavities between teeth. 🦷 Visit the dentist regularly! Regular exams, starting at 1 year of age or within 6 months of the first tooth emerging, will give your child the best opportunity to have a healthy mouth for their lifetime. Remember, good habits established early on pave the way for a lifetime of healthy smiles! #pediatricdentistry #pediatricdentist #parenting #dentist #oralhealth

🦷 The Importance of Dental Sealants for Children As parents, we all want to ensure our children have healthy smiles. One effective preventive measure is the application of dental sealants. Here’s why dental sealants are so important for your child’s oral health: **1. Protection Against Cavities:** Dental sealants are a thin, protective coating applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (molars). They form a barrier that protects these vulnerable areas from plaque and bacteria, significantly reducing the risk of cavities. **2. Easy and Painless Application:** The process of applying sealants is quick, easy, and completely painless. It involves cleaning the teeth, applying a special gel, and then painting the sealant onto the tooth surface, where it hardens and forms a protective shield. **3. Long-Lasting Protection:** Once applied, sealants can last several years before needing reapplication. They provide continuous protection through the critical cavity-prone years of childhood. **4. Cost-Effective Preventive Measure:** Investing in sealants now can save money in the long run by avoiding the need for more complex and costly dental treatments that can arise from untreated cavities. **5. Ideal for Children:** While sealants are beneficial for everyone, they are particularly recommended for children and teenagers who may not have established the best brushing and flossing habits yet. **Pro Tip:** Talk to your dentist about the right time to apply sealants for your child. Typically, they are applied as soon as the permanent molars come in, around age 6. #PediatricDentistry #DentalSealants #CavityPrevention #ChildrensHealth #HealthySmiles

Today is National Tooth Fairy Day! So what a perfect time to share some tips on how to help your little ones brush their teeth… * Make it fun - duh! Sing a song or use a timer and make those two minutes the funniest part of their day. We highly recommend the Hey Duggee Toothbrushing song if you want some help in the form of a fun character. * Lead by example. We all know that toddlers like to model adult behaviour so brush your teeth over the sink together and let them copy you. Monkey see, monkey do! * Give them choice. Let them choose their own toothbrush and toothpaste so they feel they have more ownership over the process. And finally if it doesn’t go to plan don’t sweat it. Brushing your teeth is a skill that takes time to pick up. With a little praise and positive reinforcement they will be there in no time at all : ) For more tips and information have a look back at our blog post for Dental Health Month > https://bit.ly/3SEakz3 #BrushYourTeeth #ToothFairyDay #WelliesNursery
