A recent study conducted by Ipsos and SteelSky Ventures company Origin found 83% of US women ages 18-59 experienced at least one pelvic health symptom in the last year, including the 50% of Millennial women who reported bladder leaks. Origin is closing the gap by providing pelvic floor and whole-body physical therapy with a specialized focus on pregnancy, postpartum and menopause, both in person and virtually. Don't be fooled - I was diagnosed as menopausal while pregnant! In my 30s, a female doctor dismissed my missed period and sleepless nights as menopause without further investigation. But when I insisted on a pregnancy test, the results were positive - a crucial lesson in self-advocacy. Imagine if I hadn't spoken up: my pregnancy could have been missed, leading to improper treatment and neglect of essential prenatal care. This experience fueled my passion for women's healthcare advocacy. I now work with activists to ensure all women receive accurate diagnoses and proper care. Join us in empowering women with knowledge and preventing misdiagnoses. Let's make sure no woman walks away with the wrong diagnosis like I almost did - and like hundreds of others do every day. #empoweringwomen #speakup #selfadvocacy #misdiagnosis #menopause

Did you know 70% of women take at least one prescription medicine during pregnancy, but only 5% of medications are properly monitored, tested, and labelled for use during this time? This International Women's Day, I am proud to work with initiatives like BRIDGE to #InspireInclusion and raise awareness of this information gap which negatively affects women’s health. Women shouldn’t have to choose between starting a family or controlling their disease. That’s why BRIDGE is working to ensure that women with chronic diseases are equipped with reliable, high-quality data to make informed decisions about their treatment — from diagnosis of a chronic condition through their reproductive health journey. Access to relevant information is a woman’s fundamental right. As a former senior #Europeanmedicinesagency staff member, I've been involved in work aimed at improving the quality and availability of information about medicines, and the #transparency of data underpinning their authorisation. That work will not stop today, but the #internationalwomensday2024 is a good opportunity to remind about its importance. helping employers ensure their new and expecting parents have access to compassionate, high-value perinatal and postpartum care through their health plans 🤱💕
In addition to chronic diseases including diabetes and heart disease, women have gender-specific health concerns such as pregnancy, menopause, premenstrual syndrome, breastfeeding, and reproductive health. Yet most U.S. benefit plans don't take a holistic approach to women's health. ❌ Few benefit plans include comprehensive breastfeeding support. ❌ Maternal morbidity is higher in the U.S than many high-income countries. ❌ Menopause symptoms cause one-third of female employees to have difficulty coping at work. This supplement from Employee Benefit News addresses: 🤱 How lactation support improves employee retention and productivity 👫 Ways that gender bias in health care manifest itself 🏥 Why four times as many women than men are undiagnosed #womenshealth #maternalhealth #maternalmortality #healthequity #employeebenefits #breastfeeding #infanthealth https://lnkd.in/gKZnrsim

Many women struggle with a common misconception: that different life stages such as puberty, pregnancy, postpartum, peri-menopause, and post-menopause only affect the gonadal organs. Although we might acknowledge it’s more than that, we often minimize the significance of these changes, underestimating their impact. But the reality is profound. These stages involve significant hormonal fluctuations that impact the entire body and brain, leading to widespread transformation. We recognize this transformation during puberty when children evolve into teenagers. Yet, why do we overlook that similar significant changes recur throughout a woman’s life? During my upcoming talk at the @umaversity Event on Sunday, May 19th, in Amsterdam, I will discuss the impact of these stages on a woman’s body throughout her life. I’ll provide practical tools to optimize your overall health, empowering and sparking your curiosity about what’s to come. Get your tickets at umaversity.com/eventxl. #womenshealth #healthypregnancy #postpartumhealth #perimenopause #menopause #hormonalhealth #healthyhormones #estrogen #progesterone

Is the labor market prepared to support women’s challenges? Let’s reflect on menopause, pregnancy, and menstruation issues: 📍11% of women 45-60 missed work in the past 12 months due to menopause (Mayo Clinic) 📍84% of women feel menstrual pain, nearly 40% miss work because of it (American Family Physician) 📍85% of working women become mothers, yet 50,000+ pregnancy discrimination claims were made in the last 10 years (Forbes) Working in an environment that does not understand these challenges causes women more stress and discomfort. Which leads to higher turn-over levels, lack of creativity and innovation, lower focus and self-confidence levels. Follow the tips below to transform your organization into a more supportive place for women of all ages. 📧Send us a message to train your team on these matters with expert-made and personalized workshops and webinars. #inspireinclusion #iwd2024 #reproductivehealth #menopause #mentalwellbeing

Co-Founder, COO at Aquafit Intimate, Women's Health and Wellness
2moSteelSky Ventures thank you for posting this study. At Aquafit Intimate we are seeing even higher rates of pelvic symptoms, mainly associated with vaginal spasms, pain, irritation and imbalance, and infections that can cause incontinence and also leaks. As pelvic symptoms for women are typically associated with sexual health, and vaginal wellness, and most women have not heard of pelvic floor, you will see a large increase in reporting depending on how you ask.
