Diversity. For some, it's just an empty concept; for others, it's a corporate obligation they don't understand. At Grinity, we approach #diversity in our way, but it's one of our core values - what's more beneficial than when everyone brings something new and different to the table? In May, we delved into the theme of generations to celebrate this year's #EuropeanDiversityMonth. Each generation is different and offers a unique perspective on the world. Pride month! At Volue we mark it in several ways. Why? The pinkwashing of a software and technology provider for critical infrastructure? No. Probably, it would be most convenient to say nothing or at least treat it as a private matter. I will not. Firstly; a decade ago, when I was still in university, «Homo» (the Norwegian term for a gay man) was still a commonly used description of students doing Industrial Economics, like me. The password to the (not so) secret webpage with solution proposals for home assignments was «Homo». It was not a compliment, and to this day I regret saying nothing against it. Secondly; it is only two years since I spent a Saturday texting every colleague I thought might have been close to the shooting in downtown Oslo, targeting the Pride celebration. Obviously based on what I knew about people’s love life, not according to the Contingency Plan, but in deep concern that we could have lost some of ours. Thirdly, when I first wrote about Pride in an early edition of Updates from Volue - our internal newsletter - I received the kindest feedback from one of our employees, thanking us for taking a stance - supporting diversity and welcoming Pride. That was enough for me. If we can make one person feel welcomed and appreciated, then it is all worthwhile. Volue aims to make a difference. Through the value we deliver to customers we want to be an enabler of the green transition. That calls for innovation and new ways of thinking. I am convinced that for this to happen, diversity is a force for good. Hence, endorsing Pride, celebrating International Women’s Day, and ensuring operations and culture welcomes people regardless of nationality, age and phases of life - the business rationale behind it is clear. Be open. That’s this year's motto for our annual Diversity Days at Bosch, happening right now. It's a short yet powerful theme, calling on everyone to embrace new opportunities and possibilities. We value and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) for the enrichment they bring and see them as essential to our success. That's why we celebrate Diversity Days every year. Our global week-long event features members of the Bosch team sharing their inspiring stories. Diversity Days have always been a great source of inspiration for me, showing how important DEI is for our business success and the talents choosing Bosch. I'm really excited about the upcoming sessions this week and encourage everyone at Bosch to participate actively and share what they learned within and outside of Bosch. And for everyone else: See this as a reminder to take opportunities to engage, listen, and learn from people with different backgrounds and perspectives. Recent reports reveal a challenging landscape for Latinas in corporate America, highlighting significant underrepresentation and systemic barriers to career advancement. Despite holding only 4.9% of entry-level positions and just 1% of C-suite roles, and while challenges remain, the drive and commitment of Latinas to advance their careers are truly inspiring!
