Providing access to #stemeducation programs at an early age can change the narrative for rural communities. Typically, rural communities face unique challenges in accessing quality STEM education due to limited resources, geographic isolation, and a lack of exposure to STEM opportunities. However, the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation STEM Center programs are fostering a strong connection between rural communities and STEM education. This is essential for promoting economic development, bridging the digital divide, and empowering the next generation with the skills needed for success in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. The Ripken Foundation's focus on community engagement, mentorship, and partnerships with local industries plays a pivotal role in nurturing STEM interest and proficiency among rural youth, that ultimately contributes to the progress and prosperity of students and their communities.

REVISE is gearing up to host the 2023 AISL Awardee Meeting next week, Dec. 6-8. The meeting is a biennial convening of projects funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) Advancing Informal STEM Learning (AISL) program. This year’s AISL Awardee Meeting theme is "REVISING the Conversation on Equity in ISE," which honors the launch of the REVISE (Reimagining Equity and Values in Informal STEM Education) Center as the new equity resource center for the NSF AISL program. Have you ever been involved in an informal STEM program that started in one place and then expanded to other locations? NGCP and EDC worked together with practitioners in informal STEM learning to create a conference called "Advancing the Conversation on Scaling National Informal STEM Programs," which was funded by the National Science Foundation. After the conference, NGCP, edc.org, and the collaborators developed two resources to help scale informal STEM learning programs and curricula equitably. Arts Students Embrace STEM Theme: Leveraging STEAM Education for socio-economic development The two at the far end enjoys being in my everyday enrichment program but they made it clear they are not into STEM but they are the ARTS students. So in us having a program, we had to cater for them and made sure they enjoy the sessions lest we chase them away with the Science they believe they are not into. They literally told me, ' I am not really into Science but into the Arts,' the other into culinary and all things arts trust me. It's not long they emphasised on this. Koore ke these students who understand what they want and are not going to have anyone change their minds. Just last week, I saw their interest in STEM, so deep no one can put out. The solutions they had were so deafening, like "are these the same kids that made it clear that they are not Science Students?" Today they are here with me at the Science Week Satelite event, their language is different, GA ke a tshoga😳Science wizards! It's pretty mind-blowing, to be honest. 🚀🎨🔬 This shows there is more work to do because students are not exposed to so many of these careers and they are hanging on to the little they know. It is a fascinating world out there and students need to see and experience this and start getting in the habit of solving problems. #scienceweek #satellite #STEM #space #BUAN #scienceweeksatelluteevent
