We were delighted to meet with Minister Mary Butler and her officials today to discuss persectives and solutions to sustain and develop the role we play in supporting positive ageing in our communities. Family owned and operated homes are a critically important part of delivering a continuum of care within their local communities, drawing on experience and perspective built on tradition and family values. They are essential stakeholders and committed partners in a shared vision for a society which enables ‘ageing well in the community’. Sustaining and developing the role of local nursing homes is an important element in the delivery of any national policy for person-centred, positive ageing. Within this, we believe there are three key areas of focus required - 1. Enhancing Supports and Choice in the Community - Establishing a new approach to innovative partnerships with the HSE and local nursing homes to broaden the continuum of older person community supports. 2. Sustaining Quality though People - Protecting the delivery of quality care by establishing a workforce strategy which creates and sustains appropriate career pathways for those working in the sector. 3. Securing Care for the Future - Ensuring the growing demand for high quality older person supports are met when and where they are needed by encouraging sustainable investment in enhanced nursing home facilities & services over the next decade. What a story! One that we need to share broadly! The Ensign Pennant partnership! We are cut from the same cloth. Parellel core values, both organizations together on a mission to improve the care continuum. To provide life changing service in the post acute space. Our skilled nursing partners hosted some of us this week where we openly talked about what we need to do in order to improve our care across our organizations. Main takeaways- these are true partners, we need to embrace the EPCC partnership and treat them like cluster partners. Learn their buisness, meet often, share best practices, assist with opportunities and collaborate on new and innovative ideas on how to improve our care continuums, but most of all….tell the story. We have had significant growth in both Skilled nursing and HH Hospice we need to ensure our new employees know this relationship! So….tell the story!

We're pleased to share that The London Clinic has been selected as a finalist for the Nursing Times award for the Learning Disabilities Nursing Award! This award recognises the unique role that nurses have in supporting patients with learning disabilities, along with their families and carers, to achieve and maintain good health, wellbeing and their full potential. It focuses on how nurses or nursing teams work to break down barriers that may prevent participation in society or result in health inequalities. We're honoured to be selected on the shortlist and can't wait for the awards announcements in October. The London Clinic’s award entry focuses on a project which is about reaching beyond what constitutes a reasonable adjustment. Our Clinical Site Team identified areas of improvement in care for patients admitted with additional needs, and developed a new care framework. This includes: • improved patient passports • identification and escalation of patients with additional needs at pre-assessment • review of time booked for consultations • further training and education • policy reviews • a consistent working group • assurance into the Patient Safety Committee • review of patient experience data including support from patients at the patient forum • improved communication aids • family/carer involvement. This also included the appointment of two lead roles within the Clinical Site Practitioner Team including our Dementia Lead (Dawn) and our Learning Disability and Autism Lead (Joao).
