I unreservedly support this and that a universal approach breaks down barriers to opportunity.
We offer a free simple breakfast to all students. Tea, coffee, water and as much toast as you want to take.
Keep it simple, it’s not expensive to offer. Some toasters, bread and spreads out for the taking and anyone and everyone can help themselves.
The available to all removes any sense of stigma or shame and the bonus is it encourages attendance and punctuality.
The morning too much of a faff to get yourself up, grab something to eat and get to college in time? Not to mention many of the challenges students of all age groups face. Just get to college and you can eat with us.
No stigma, no shame, simples.

Lots of research findings that can be applied here, including evaluations that we undertook of the universal school breakfast clubs programme by Blackpool Council that took place over 4 years and produced multiple peer reviewed papers, evaluations of both Gregg's and Kellogg's school breakfast clubs that resulted in peer reviewed papers, accredited knowledge transfer modules, an implementation and evaluation framework and dietary/nutrition framework that adheres to SFS and nutritional guidelines. In terms of the school holidays, we have already published research findings relating to breakfast provision. Our new research in this area adopts a new socioecological framework that incorporates school/ holiday meals across the entire day that delivers a more efficient implementation and delivery framework using the latest scientific findings to align dietary intake to the curriculum and SDGs to maximise dietary intake, individual and planetary health, and cognitive processing, whilst improving cost effectiveness and social return on investment Department for Education.
