If interested, respond via email to me, noting which/both which shift(s).   Thursday, March 28th: Volunteer Project w/Paws of War (Nesconset, Long Island, NY) VALOR has begun partnering w/an organization which pairs abandoned dogs & cats—including from war-torn countries—with veterans and first responders. NOTE: There are limited shifts for this project, but rest assured, more coming w/Paws of War for those who are interested 😊   Volunteers MUST be 18+ (for those who are considering registering any family members as guests).   Shift #1: 12:30PM-2:30PM ET (3-4ppl per shift): Kennel support Recommended that you wear comfortable clothes + shoes; Paws of War provides shoe protection, gloves, masks, etc. Shift #2: 2:30PM-4:30PM (3-4 ppl per shift): Help assemble furniture for brand new desk for Paws of War.   Future volunteer projects w/Paws of War will include: “Volunteers can assist with walking dogs, bathing dogs, puppy socialization, etc. Depending on how many animals we have in that day we can have anywhere from 5-10 volunteers help with that again dependent on how many rescues are in our facility at that time.” #paws #animals #dogs #servicedogs #veterans #PTSD #trauma #responders #firstresponders #VALOR #militaryveterans

Keeping the cat chat going, we desperately are in need of a shelter in the Northwest of Tasmania. This has been identified as major hurdle to successful cat management in the region, as highlighted in the Cradle Coast Regional Cat Management Strategy (2021-2026). Having access to a cat management facility enables residents to safely surrender unwanted cats or kittens thereby reducing the number of abandoned and consequently stray cats in the community. Rucking Away May - A Fitness Event for Spay/Neuter Initiatives This co-branded event is powered by Barbells For Bullies and GORUCK. The purpose of this event is to raise money and awareness for spay/neuter initiatives around the country. Every year, 1.2 Million dogs are euthanized in shelters. 1.2 Million. Every Year. That’s roughly the population of Dallas, TX. And over half of the dogs euthanized, are labeled “pit bull type” dogs. While we work to help all dogs, the reason we’re Barbells For Bullies is simple - bully breeds need our help. For every 1 pit bull type dog adopted, 599 perish. One way to stop this vicious cycle, aside from ending BSL and changing perceptions surrounding the “breed” - is to control the population via spay/neuter initiatives. Did you know? In just 6 years, one unaltered dog and their offspring can produce over 60,000 puppies. That’s enough dogs to fill every seat in Dodger Stadium. In six years. One dog… Aside from the various health and behavioral benefits, we can reduce the amount of animals entering shelters by proactively supporting low/no cost spay/neuter programs. All proceeds from this event will go towards various spay neuter initiatives around the US in high risk areas. To date, we spayed/neutered hundreds of dogs. The Black Rhinoceros, a critically endangered species, finds sanctuary in the Eastern Salient of the Aberdare National Park, covering an expanse of 120 km², where it boasts the highest population within the park. Historically, poaching posed the most significant threat to this population. However, a dedicated team of rangers now patrols the Eastern Salient, ensuring the protection of the remaining Black Rhinos from poaching threats. Consequently, incidents of poaching have significantly decreased. Vital to this effort is the collection of intelligence to preempt threats to the Black Rhinos, alongside daily desnaring operations aimed at safeguarding them. Rhino Ark UK, the sister charity of Rhino Ark Kenya Charitable Trust, collaborates closely with local operators to support ongoing conservation efforts in East Africa. Through partnerships with the Kenyan team, we facilitate grant applications, organize fundraising events, and advocate for the cause in the United Kingdom. DSWF's Big Cats in Big Trouble... ‼️ 2025 The year that Sumatran tigers could become extinct in the wild. 🐅 Worst-case scenarios predict that fewer than 4,000 tigers remain in the wild and that the Indochinese and Sumatran subspecies are on the verge of extinction. 600 Average number of lions killed by humans each year 🦁 Lions, once a symbol of strength and nobility, have seen their wild populations plummet by 43% in the last two decades, a stark symbol of the struggle they face. There are between 3,500 and 6,000 snow leopards left in the wild ❄️ Snow leopards are left wandering the remote, isolated regions they call home, finding themselves increasingly cut off from each other as humans encroach further into their territory. 🌟 Our New Campaign for WarPaws 🌟 In Iraq, WarPaws is a sanctuary for over 700 dogs, each with their own incredible story. Despite facing numerous challenges, these dogs find refuge and rebuild their trust in humanity. WarPaws' mission goes beyond providing shelter. They’ve extended their rescue efforts across borders, saving 99 Ukrainian dogs from dire situations in Romania. However, they still face significant challenges, including financial constraints and a decline in rehoming rates. The closure of a partner shelter recently left 35 dogs stranded in Romania, a stark reminder of the ongoing struggles. Despite these hurdles, hope prevails. WarPaws needs your support now more than ever. ❤️ Our campaign aims to transform their world, one brick at a time.
