The atrocities against women have been nothing but a statistic. It's been going on so long that many of us have become numb - that's an absolutely dangerous territory. Unless we are united in our outrage and put the politicians in charge of policies that focus on the safety of women - hoping for change is naive. We need to be collectively outraged and ask for more than what we are getting. There is beauty in unity, and so much strength in diversity. If we all come together and shake the rotten foundation of the justice system, change is possible. If we come together from all strata of society to convince those with power that ignoring change will have dire consequences. If we create, connect, and commit together for women's safety, it is freedom for everyone. Because freedom for few is not freedom at all.

The elephant in the room has grown so much that it has bust the walls of the room and is now running amok on the roads. I am referring to crimes against women. They have really spun out of control and the situation is getting from bad to worse. So what needs to be done? Two measures are an absolute no brainer and need immediate action Safety of women Women need to be protected wherever they are and in transit too. They must be comprehensively taught self defense too. Punishments Exemplary punishments need to be meted out wherever there are crimes against women. Both of the above points need an extent of elaboration that will be beyond the scope of this post. I hope I am able to make my point Societal measures Since the time they are toddlers, boys must be taught to treat women with equality and respect. Later on too they must totally refrain from using words like "sweety", "babe", "honey" and similar terms (unless the woman is genuinely happy with being addressed in that manner, which could be the case in a romantic relationship) It is a very vast subject and impossible to do justice to in a singular post. However, I did want to share my most intense feelings and strongest opinions. Do share your perspectives.

When you want to read something with meaning, and power not steeped in tragic tales, shame, victimhood and pleas for forgiveness. We're living in a world where Margaret Atwood's "The Handmaid's Tale" feels less like fiction and more like a disturbing preview of potential reality. Women have had to adapt to this threatening environment: - Carrying keys as makeshift weapons - Over-communicating whereabouts and using location tracking - Staying vigilant in public spaces - Using the buddy system - Guarding drinks closely - Taking self-defense classes - Supporting and believing one another The political climate, exemplified by figures like Donald Trump, has emboldened those who would restrict women's rights and safety. We may see an increase in violence against women as such behavior becomes more socially acceptable. The solution? Vote as if our lives depend on it - because they do. This isn't about age; it's about fundamental rights. We won't surrender our freedoms without a fight. Join us or step aside. #womensrights

I found this article very intriguing - people named Karen changing their name in order to avoid discrimination. Name discrimination has been in play for a long time, but like I have said before, many things don't make a difference until it impacts you. What are your thoughts? Even if you buy their excuse that AI did it, it points to one of the many unsavoury aspects of AI. AI models are trained on existing information and have been shown time and time again to repeat racist and stereotypical tropes about different cultures and groups in society. As we increasingly generate content using AI, we need to remain vigilant about the type of information being used to train models to ensure we don't continue to propagate misinformation and biases. We also need to make sure that AI companies are populated with diverse individuals from a broad representation of society so there is more accountability and oversight into how the models are developed.

Watching everyone posting for justice on the recent rape-murder incident, what's disheartening to see is that the conversation is turning into a men vs. women debate. This is not the focus we need. Why does everything have to be men vs. women? People need to understand men and women are complementary, NOT contradictory. We both are required; we both are needed—needed by each other as well. This tragic incident, which should unite us in seeking justice, is instead being turned into a men vs. women debate. This is not just a failure of justice but a failure of humanity. We need to remember that empathy and action are required from all of us, regardless of gender. It could be any woman from your family—your mother, sister, daughter, wife, girlfriend—anyone. Will we still argue about men vs. women? Just because she/he isn't your family doesn't mean you will kill basic mannerism, humanity, chivalry, kindness, and behavior. This isn't about sides; it's about standing together against the true enemy: violence and injustice.
