Are you on the hunt for a #dodskillbridge or a Hiring Our Heroes fellowship? Our Fellowship roles are open to both and they also each have a direct hire role attached to them at the end.
Steve, how do I find them? where are they?
They are right here https://lnkd.in/eRkyqQna 👈
If you find a role that is a good fit, follow these steps:
1. Search the site with keyword "Military Fellowship"
2. Read the Job Description (JD)
3. If a fit, Tailor resume to JD
4. Apply, remember to mark yourself as a protected class veteran, even if you are still on AD. For spouses, this is N/A unless they are both a spouse and a vet.
5. Reach out to me on LI and let me know which Fellowship Position you applied to, so I can forward it along to my teammates if needed.

I drove Navy warships for over 7 years.
Warships.
Don’t tell me you can’t figure out how to translate your skills in the military to relevant jobs in the private sector.
I went on to be a successful account executive for 7 years.
How?
First, I peeled back the onion on what I ACTUALLY did in the Navy.
I led sailors - subordinates, peers and superiors.
I adapted to my surroundings which were always shifting.
I communicated in such a way that inspired action.
I was coachable by those who knew more than me no matter what their rank was.
I worked really hard, like my life and the lives of those around me depended on it.
—————
When you look at my warship driving career though this lens… it looks like someone who could probably get the hang of being an AE.
I wrote this post in about 90 seconds in my phone after a workout.
Someone of you veterans are taking weeks and months to form the same thoughts on paper about your own career.
I get it.
Learning to take thoughts/skills/experiences in the military and turn them into words that a potential sales hiring manager can wrap their head around takes practice.
But, do something.
Take action.
Try.
This is the first step in the job hunt.
Understanding and believing in the value you bring to employers.
Then learning how to communicate it in such a way that gets people excited.
Reach out if you need a hand.
Seriously. Reach out.
Pew pew.

When I invite executives aboard a ship or submarine, it’s not just to showcase military technology—it’s to introduce them to the people behind that technology.
These young men and women are entrusted with complex systems, making high-stakes decisions under extreme pressure.
They serve not for a paycheck but for something bigger than themselves.
A résumé cannot convey this experience, and neither can a computer algorithm.
Yet, when veterans leave the military, they’re often filtered through the same hiring systems as everyone else, reducing their remarkable experiences to keywords and qualifications that don’t reflect their true value.
These VIP cruises aim to change that. By giving executives a firsthand look at the character and capabilities of those in uniform, I want them to see what a résumé often misses: the loyalty, team-first mentality, and technical acumen developed through military service.
Veterans bring critical thinking, adaptability, and leadership from working in high-stress environments with cutting-edge technology.
But how do you quantify managing a nuclear-powered submarine or leading a unit under fire? You can’t. And that’s the problem.
I aim to show executives that veterans are more than just candidates—they’re essential assets. By seeing these individuals in action, I hope to change how we recruit, interview, and hire veterans.
It’s about breaking through hiring processes that don’t account for the true scope of military experience.
This change will not happen overnight, but we can shift the conversation around hiring veterans by influencing one executive leader at a time.
These men and women are ready to contribute their unique skills to civilian industries, and it’s time we recognized that.
