5 Things that harms your Fitness business as a Gym Owner/Manager 1. Discounting Prices: Avoid undervaluing personal training and special classes. Quality services deserve fair pricing to maintain value, once you discount you can never stop, and the perceived value will decrease with it. A lot of ways to work around it. 2. Neglecting Staff Training: Regularly meet and invest in your team’s professional development to ensure high standards and motivation, create your education curriculum and teach them everything you know. 3. Not Tracking KPIs: Every peak and drop in your key performance indicators matter, from daily visits to lead vs conversion rate, from daily booking trend to top 10 spenders, the list goes on. They provide crucial insights for growth. 4. Not Communicating Personally: Engage personally with at least 80% of your members. Get to know their names, listen to their story. Personal connections enhance loyalty and satisfaction. 5. Not Doing Community Events: Host challenges and activities to foster a strong community and member engagement, your staff will love it, your members will speak about it, ice will be broken between staff and members, and other KPIs will get the boost from it. These lessons have shaped me as a manager. What’s your thoughts & Opinion? What’s your experience? Fabulous Operations = Happy Members who buy quickly and don’t cancel. Easiest Method to Improving Ops, that Most Fitness Leaders skip ↓ ↓ ↓ 1/Take yourself through your entire member journey. Google Search → to Tour → through the first workout. Ask two other team members to go through it as well. 2/Collect notes on the following: ▶ How consistent each of your experiences were. ▶ How easy was it for you to: -Schedule an appointment -Purchase a membership or service -Understand your workout(s) -Clearly see the next step in continuing to the next workout 3/ Take all the notes- both awesome along with the holes back to your team. Most of all, this is a collaborative meeting for you to learn → if they went “off process”, it may be because they know something you don’t about how it should have been written in the first place. Everyone needs to feel confident in the “why” before making process changes. 4/ Make this practice part of each quarter where everybody gets to be a new member. Light and low-stress. You’re creating an environment where all employees are constantly aware of a member’s view and actively questioning how to tweak. ▶ Because they know their ideas are valuable. *** P.S. Managing coaches and instructors can be tough! Here are my top five traits of successful FITNESS MANAGERS 👇🏼 1️⃣ You understand the methodology To manage strength coaches, you should have an understanding of strength training. To manage cycling instructors, knowing what it's like to run a great class is pivotal to getting your team's respect. 2️⃣ You've done it before Having prior experience, whilst not absolutely essential, really helps. When an instructor says they're burned out and tired, for example, it's good if you can tell them how you handled this when you were doing 120+ hours a month. 3️⃣ You're firm but fair Coaches and instructors can be notoriously quite free spirited and tough to manage. Fairness in terms of how the team are treated, pay rates, time off etc is crucial, whilst not letting anyone push the boundaries too far. 4️⃣ You embrace the difficult conversations head on If you see something that isn't right, you address it with the coach or instructor at the earliest opportunity, even if you know you'll get pushback from some. 5️⃣ You take every opportunity to help the team improve You invest in your fitness team's education and development. You encourage mentorships amongst the team. You spend time with new recruits to get them up to a five-star standard. Whilst these traits are relevant to most management positions, fitness teams require a particular approach for best results. What other fitness management essentials do you live by? #fitnesscoach #fitnessinstructor #thefitguide #fitnessindustry #management

💼 Managing your fitness club goes beyond routine tasks—it's a strategic endeavor. Think of it as a game where every move matters. From the way you communicate with customers to the standards you set for services, each element shapes the culture of your club. Creating a culture that aligns with the needs and values of your audience is key to attracting and retaining customers. Whether it's offering personalized training programs or fostering a sense of community through group activities, your club's culture plays a vital role in keeping clients engaged and satisfied. But to truly excel, you need to define your niche. What sets your club apart? Is it your state-of-the-art facilities, specialized classes, or personalized approach to fitness? Once you've identified your niche, tailor your club's culture to cater to the preferences of your target audience. Understanding your clients is crucial. Take the time to get to know them—what motivates them, what challenges they face, and what they value most in a fitness club. By aligning your club's culture with their values and preferences, you'll create a welcoming environment where they feel valued and supported. Consistency is key. Uphold your club's values in every interaction and decision, from hiring staff who embody your ethos to implementing policies that reflect your commitment to customer satisfaction. By staying true to your core values, you'll build trust with your clients and foster long-term loyalty. In the competitive world of fitness, success depends on more than just offering great workouts—it's about creating an experience that resonates with your clients on a deeper level. By treating the management of your fitness club as a strategic game and cultivating a culture that speaks to your audience, you'll position yourself for sustained growth and success. 🏋️♂️ #motivation #evaluation #productivity #ambition #development #gym #clubmanager #fitnessmanager #clubindustry #fitness #fitnessclub #fitnessbusiness #personaldevelopment #teamwork #clubmanagement #leadership #fitnessindustry #management #transformation #business #sportsmanagement #sportsbusiness #sportsindustry #sportmanagement #fitnessprofessional #businessdevelopment #courage #strategies #collaboration #teamwork #communitybuilding #teammotivation

🚀 Powerful Questions in Fitness Industry Management Questions are a powerful tool for promoting learning in the workplace. When we ask people questions, it encourages them to think critically and develop the problem-solving skills that are so valuable in the fitness industry. Power questions tend to be short, simple, and open-ended, meaning they cannot be answered with a simple “yes” or “no.” They encourage people to go beyond superficial thinking to get to their deeper thoughts, insights and understanding. It is important to be able to ask questions such as: “What do you think our options are?” or “What do you think caused this problem?” Asking questions is a skill. The questions themselves are short and simple, but the skill is in knowing when to ask them and what question to ask. To successfully manage the fitness industry, it is important to understand the strengths and weaknesses of your approach. You may already be asking important questions, but not often enough. To become better at asking powerful questions, slow down to be more mindful in the moment. This will help you recognize opportunities to ask a question, as well as be aware of the context and emotional state of others. 🎯 Examples of powerful questions: What options do we have to improve the service? What caused this problem and how can we solve it? What do you think we need to change in our approach? Invest in developing the skill of asking questions and you will see processes improve in your fitness business. 🌟 #motivation #business #fitnessclub #fitnessprofessional #businessdevelopment #entrepreneurs #courage #creativity #evaluation #productivity #fitness #development #clubmanager #fitnessmanager #fitnessbusiness #leadership #personaldevelopment #fitnessindustry #management #gym #teamwork #teammotivation

Expert in Recruiting and Pre-sales with Customized Sales Training for Fitness and Wellness Studios.
4moStraight forward post 🤘 . My only thing is with discounts, and I don't have an answer, is literally every gym, concept, wellness studio gives them. If you're under a franchise, these discounts are sometimes mandated. In order for discounts to not be a thing anymore, everyone would have to stop using them. In my opinion, the whole not using discounts because it devalues your services is sort over overblown.
