I absolutely LOVE my job. I LOVE working with young children, advocating for families, and supporting child care centers. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to tell everyone about what I do and why it is so important to the community of St Tammany. But, I quickly learned that 4 mins is not enough time to express it all. St. Tammany Ready Start Network needs our community support. Fact:1. 80% of a child’s brain is developed by age 3. 90% of a child’s brain is developed by age 4. It is important that children have access to high quality care and education in their first years of life in order to set the foundation for later learning.2. Studies show (most famously The Perry Project) that children who participate in a high quality preschool are less likely to need special education classes, become incarcerated, become pregnant as a teenager, or drop out of high school.3. According to ALICE, child care is the HIGHEST household expense. 42% of St Tammany residents are ALICE families (working families living about poverty, but does not earn enough to pay all household expenses). This is either the family living to the left of you or the right of you!4. Our child care providers are not day cares or babysitters. They are truly early education centers and teachers. We are preparing children for kindergarten. They follow a curriculum, lead teachers are working on their CDA or ancillary certification, and classrooms are assessed twice a year. 5. The state offers a School Readiness tax credit for business owners, non-profits, etc with a tax id number. It is a $for$ credit (up to $5k). A donation can be made to the CCR&R and earmarked for St Tammany. The funds will be used to support the Network’s Blueprint goals. Call me or message me for more info!! This costs your business nothing bc you get it back and you support early care and education!! It’s a win/win!! https://lnkd.in/gEG8aRxj

Do you know what school choice means? School choice means that families can use public funds to choose the best education option for their children, such as public, private, charter, home, or other schools. This creates opportunities for families. #SchoolChoice #OCCSCharters Stark High School is one of many successful examples of school choice in action!

Did you know that 40% of 11 year-olds in England from communities facing disadvantage leave primary school unable to read to the expected standard? Each volunteer offers a child weekly reading support for a whole academic year, using a bespoke platform. Teachers, from schools, select children who will benefit from reading support. Then volunteers are matched with children! Every week, for 30 minutes, reading pairs enjoy stories and activities together. Over time, this 1:1 support helps transform each child’s reading confidence and ability. Ask me anything about my experience - I would be happy to help! https://lnkd.in/e_E-GmPb #volunteersweek #chapteronevolunteer #employeevolunteering #onlinevolunteering #corporatepartnerships #employeewellbeing #socialvalue

"I have previously written an article on the importance of parental involvement in a child’s education. However, in the current climate, where many students are learning from home, I feel it is vital to reiterate the significance of parents taking an active role in their child’s education. It is not enough to rely solely on teachers to provide education; parents must also be involved. There are many ways for parents to get involved, including attending parent-teacher conferences, volunteering at school, helping with homework, and having regular communication with teachers. By working together, parents and teachers can create successful partnerships that contribute to a child’s academic and social development." #ParentalInvolvement #AcademicSuccess #ParentTeacherPartnerships #VolunteerAtSchool #HomeworkHelp #RegularCommunication #ChildDevelopment #EducationStrategies #FamilyEngagement #SchoolSuccess #SupportiveParents #StudentGrowth #PositiveSchoolEnvironment #TeacherCollaboration #MexitNews
