🎮 5 years ago, a very small team of devs with minimal resources released a really small single-player game on the web called "Firestone Idle RPG" game on the 1st of April, like an April's fool joke as many had said. 😄 ⏩ Fast forward to today, this team is still not big but the project we kept developing became a multi-million 💰 project with extremely deep monetization that even the giants are envious sometimes. The game's evolution gave it the additional "online" in its title as it's not a single player anymore, and in its category (idle - clicker) it is constantly on the 2nd top sellers on Steam while on Steam it's constantly in the top 500 top sellers. At the same time, the project is cross-platform on Steam, Epic Games, Google Play, iOS, and 5 web platforms. 🌟 Today, 5 years later, we fully released on Steam transitioning from Early Access into a full release. For me, a lot of the reason I can't play every game I want to is purely financial. Games are so expensive now, and with rising inflation and development costs, it will only get worse. I simply wait for games to come down in price. I get to experience a better (patched/updated game) for a fraction of the launch price by applying a bit of patience. I am guessing the next gen PS6 etc we will see the introduction of the $100 game, which will see gaming become even more of a rich kids past time. I find it ironic when game devs and publishers are surprised by low sales, while at the same time trying to consistently charge high prices per game. Back in my day (yes I'm 40 this year, I'm old) games were £29.99 and came in a box so huge it probably took an entire tree per game. Now, just 20 years later, if a game is £49.99 it's considered a bargain. The perils of inflation and economics. There is no solution, it is just a reality we have to accept unfortunately.
