I'm happy to share a paper from my time at RTI International that was published in BMJ Open this week! "Scaling hypertension treatment in 24 low-income and middle-income countries: economic evaluation of treatment decisions at three blood pressure cut-points" We evaluated health and economic consequences of pharmacological treatment decisions for hypertension across a diverse set of countries - with varying health statuses, economic conditions, and resources to treat patients. Ultimately showing that over a million deaths could be avoided across 24 countries in the next 3 decades with better hypertension management. Link here: https://lnkd.in/e2GqC-kT

A HYPERTENSIVE EMERGENCY is the combination of SEVERE HYPERTENSION (sbp ≥180 or dbp ≥110) + SOMETHING/ ANYTHING BAD it is causing It is a MEDICAL EMERGENCY.
