The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration NHTSA has initiated a preliminary evaluation into the Lane Keep Assist (LKA) system in VinFast VF8 vehicles (model years 2023-2024). This investigation follows complaints from 14 vehicle owners regarding malfunctions in the system, which allegedly causes improper steering inputs, difficulty detecting road lanes, and challenges for drivers to override the system. The evaluation aims to assess the scope and potential safety risks associated with these issues. Read more >> https://lnkd.in/eBv7bDCg

ARCFOX Alpha S5 successfully passed the Super Crash thanks to its hyper-tough body structure and all-designed for passenger safety. It has always been our core philosophy for building cars to put the safety of our passengers first! ① E-call responds in no time ② Dual seatbelt pre-tensioning for effective passenger restraint ③ Driver and passenger airbags and side air curtains deploy at the right time. ④ No visible deformation of the door ⑤ Door handle pops open normally. ⑥ No significant deformation of the ABC columns ⑦ Structural integrity of the passenger compartment

Everyone has a reason to end impaired driving. Let your voice be heard. This is your Call to Action! The federal government has started the process to implement a new law that will save more than 10,000 lives a year! Tell the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration NHTSA that new car technology is needed NOW to prevent impaired driving. A 2021 law called the HALT Act will require that all new cars come equipped with smart passive technology that stops impaired driving before it starts. We need your help to make sure the HALT Act is fully implemented by submitting a supportive comment. Please visit the website below or scan the QR code to comment in support of ending impaired driving. Sharing your comment takes just a few minutes and will make a significant impact on NHTSA’s final rule. NHTSA will close the comment period on March 5, so please take action NOW. With your help, we will eliminate impaired driving. https://lnkd.in/eHUA8bVF

Automotive regulations are evolving, and with new technologies becoming more complex . It will be quite a challenge coming years to translate requirements with respect to safety , innovation and efficiency into new regulations which are fair for everyone , and also follow the speed of all the developing technologies.
I had the pleasure to participate in the 20th session of UNECE GRVA (Working Party on Automated/Autonomous and Connected Vehicles) in Geneva with a large delegation of CLEPA - European Association of Automotive Suppliers. CLEPA presented the status of work to include e-trailers in R13 and a proposal for park lock device in R13 and R13-H. GRVA adopted an amendment proposal to R171 for DCAS (Dynamic Control Assistance Systems) including hands-off/eyes-on and system-initiated manoeuvres. Updated ADS (Automated Driving Systems) guidelines and interpretation document for R156 were also adopted. Another main achievement is the introduction of virtual testing in R152 for AEBS. There were also interesting exchanges on the ongoing work on ACPE (Acceleration Control for Pedal Error) and ELKS (Emergency Lane Keeping System), on the ADS scenarios, on the amendment of the existing regulations to make them fit for ADS and on the new ADS vehicles categories. It was a busy week with remarkable results. Looking forward to the upcoming session! Did you know that the success of airbag systems depends on the precautions the driver and passengers take? According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), frontal airbags save thousands of lives and help prevent serious injuries. Intended as a supplemental restraint system (SRS), airbags work with your car's lap and shoulder safety belts to provide additional protection in the event of an impact. Despite their success as safety devices, earlier-generation airbags were sometimes associated with severe or fatal injuries. Most often, these injuries occurred because passengers weren't wearing safety belts, or children weren't in appropriate safety seats and weren't riding in the rear seat when the bag was deployed. Developments in new airbag systems are lessening the likelihood of injury. Still, the success may depend on the safety precautions the driver and passengers take while in the car.

If you are operating a large fleet of trucks I suspect safety is very high on your agenda. Are you aware of SMUKs very own Halo Product? The HALO® system was designed to provide better illumination around the nearside of a truck where perhaps a vulnerable road user may be unable to hear or understand an audible warning. It also takes into consideration situations where road users may be wearing headphones, or have a language barrier, or in the case of other loud road conditions which may prevent those around the vehicle from hearing your vehicles left turn warning system… HALO® provides the solution. If you want to see Halo in action drop me a note laura.claughan@smfleet.co.uk #fleetsafety #roadsafety #vru #fleettech

Zurich has been testing a proposed safety measure of adding airbags to the front of trams. The idea of incorporating airbags into trams is not far-fetched, considering the success of airbags in the automotive industry. Airbags have been proven to reduce the severity of accidents and protect passengers from harm. What do you think about this idea ? #engineering #technology #technologies #safety #accident #collision #passenger #passengers #metro #zurich #tram #trams #airbags #airbag #automotive #accidents
