Monday morning thought... You've all heard the old adage "Less is More." It's used so often because it rings true in so many instances including your silent auction. Pro-Tip: Ask your procurement committee to focus on quality over quantity to spark your donors' interest and generosity. #auctionprocurement #fundraisingevents #fundraisinghack
If you're not able to raise money from your silent auction it's probably because you're forgetting this... SCARCITY. We've all been there. We're setting up a fundraising event, trying to figure out how many auction items we need to maximize the money raised, while ensuring we stay within the budget. It's not easy. However, with this silent auction hack, you'll never spend more than 5 minutes deciding how many items you need. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗰𝗸: For every 2 donors, use 1 silent auction item. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸? Say you have 120 guests coming to your event. Out of those 120 are 50 loyal donors. Now, out of the 70 guests who have never donated to you in the past, there may be a few who end up giving during your event. But, don't EXPECT them to give. Instead, use those unexpected donors to help drive up the auction item price for your loyal donors. So, for this scenario you should only have 25 silent auction items. Doing this will encourage fun bidding wars among donors and increase the amount raised for your mission. If you'd like to increase participation and allow more unexpected donors to give, try utilizing a raffle at the same event! #fundraisingtips #nonprofitfundraising #nonprofithelp #nonprofits #fundraisingideas

I help gala planners break their fundraising goals. Charity Auctioneer, Emcee, & Fundraising Strategist.
In the world of charity auctions, there's a stark contrast between two types of auctioneers: 🔴 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗚𝘂𝗻: They show up, they perform, they leave. Preparation? Minimal. Connection with your cause and supporters? Nonexistent. The result? A performance that lacks heart and often derails your fundraising goals. 🟢 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿: More than an auctioneer. They don't just show up; they dive deep. Analyzing past data, setting financial targets with you, guiding program planning. They understand your cause, help craft a compelling narrative, and connect deeply with your supporters. The difference? It's not just about calling bids. It's about understanding the heartbeat of your mission and amplifying it. Choose wisely. Your auctioneer can be the linchpin in your fundraising success. #philanthropy #charityfundraising #auctioneer #nonprofit #nonprofitevents

Should I do a fund-a-need? This spring I did an event where it was my first time with the group and their first time using a pro fundraising auctioneer. The committee was strongly against a fund-a-need because tickets to the event were $2,500 a couple. They were afraid of asking too much from their audience. We did $260k in the live auction with 9 items. The event planner was in utter shock. She said, “that stuff was only worth about $80k fair market value.” Clients often have a mental block on what their groups are capable of giving. That’s why it’s good to hire somebody who isn't afraid to ask for the money. I’ll keep asking until they stop giving. Nine donors out of 200 people! Can you imagine how much money was left on the table by not including an "ask" moment? Therefore, the answer is "yes". You should do a fund-a-need. (In case you were wondering, they booked me again and will let me do a fund-a-need this year.) #fundraisingauctioneer #benefitauction #nonprofit #charitygala

Excellent thoughts from a veteran in the game. I always share these with my clients which helps lead them to raise significantly more money at the end of the night! Top Ten Biggest Mistakes Made at a Fundraising Auction Event 10. Poor item display and lack of PowerPoint slides or video to spotlight items during the auction. 9. Poor lighting 8. Using no or small print bid numbers 7. Not making adequate announcements during silent auction 6. Starting the live auction too late 5. Not enough or no ringmen (bid spotters) 4. Beginning the live auction after the sit-down dinner is over 3. Insufficient sound system 2. Not using a fund-a-need or doing a fund-a-need incorrectly 1. NOT USING A PROFESSIONAL FUNDRAISING AUCTIONEER AND CONSULTANT!!!!!! Customized QR codes can become an extension of a NFPs branding.
Physical objects with QR codes printed on them can be simple yet powerful tools for passive fundraising. At Pllenty we support our clients by providing samples of how they can use their Pllenty designed custom QR codes in various ways - such as on banners, stickers, lanyards and tent cards. #nonprofits #qrcodes #passivefundraising

Out of all the fundraising methods we and thousands of other nonprofits have tested, the easiest BY FAR has been our Golden Ticket Raffle. If you've been utilizing HGA for a while, you may be sick of hearing about it. But, it's too good not to share. This strategy allows nonprofits to sell raffle tickets to donors at a premium for a chance to win a trip to one of eight popular destinations (depending on which Golden Ticket package is chosen): $100 Ticket 1) Cabo 2) Tuscany 3) Sedona 4) Kentucky $250 Ticket 1) Dublin 2) Bordeaux 3) Napa 4) Amalfi Depending on which Golden Ticket package you choose, you'll raise either $10,000 or $25,000 at your event. This allows your guests, who may not be ready to commit more than $100, to contribute to your cause. Ready to raise more with our Golden Ticket?
