In last 2 years, this business has taken some major leaps of faith, changing it's orbit towards growth. We visited Container Yard to purchase Containers to convert them into Stores for Transcento. It gives us immense pleasure while gearing up for the next leap and investing in the right resources. Also, it is an additional responsibility to which we are committing ourselves with the rising Sun of next financial year. It is said that when you are in the growing phase, you should pay close attention to setting the culture & processes. Now, these Container Stores will play a specific role in our store management systems. People often look at #stores just as an infrastructure; however, I would like to take this opportunity to decode the vibes they carry... ~ Stores are regulators of the scale of your production. They offer a rotation to your raw material & Finished Goods, where they are expected to bring in balance at all the levels from procurement to sale. ~ Stores fill life into your inventory. Neither more, nor less... The right amount becomes a cost savior in disguise. ~ Stores discipline the behaviour of your business. It bears the load of extra stocking as well as pain of running short of item & yet dictates the best regulatory practices. ~ Stores digests the blame of non-issuance, yet never expects appreciation of timely supply. Stores is a blessing in disguise. No one really acknowledges it's presence yet it keeps flashing red alert, voicing out the alarming situation well in advance. ScS exits fitted-flooring market ScS has released about £30m of flooring sales to other retailers by exiting the fitted-flooring market. The move is the first significant product development at the chain since it was bought by Italian upholstery retailer poltronesofà for £99.4m last October. In the past financial reporting periods ScS had streamlined its flooring offer to improve competitiveness and upped in-store sales conversion rates by 7%. Poltronesofà’s move has seen it place a higher emphasis on sofas and comes as Steve Carson, ScS chief executive, steps down after three years in the role. Flooring has not been abandoned entirely by the chain: it still lists a choice of 129 rugs online. Quite the challenge, considering this was once an office inside a country club! We quickly realised that filling our space with shelves of retail stock would not only take up valuable room but disrupt the atmosphere we worked so hard to build. So, we made the decision to rule out traditional retail displays. But how could we still offer our clients the products they love without the clutter? We assumed there’d be a simple solution—but we were wrong. There were no systems available to seamlessly allow clients to order our recommendations without physically stocking products or asking them to go online themselves.
