I believe in possibilities. Humans are driven to grow and when that drive is blocked or misdirected, suffering results. Mindset determines whether our inherent drive builds us up and empowers us or tears us down. This documentary made me pause and consider the power of mindset and purpose in creating our lives. I can't wait to watch this!
Mark your calendars *August 14* for the release of this powerful documentary! It will be available on Netflix. I had the honor of connecting with Girls For A Change, a nonprofit founded by the incredible Angela Patton, earlier this year in Richmond, VA as we partnered on several community events. Angela and Danielle 'Dani' Brown shared details about the important work they do in the RVA community as well as details about their documentary and the story behind it. I've been following along as this documentary has garnered accolades and success across the world and WOW I cannot wait to watch the entire thing. These women are doing the amazing work to "prepare Black girls for the world and the world for Black girls". Check out the trailer now and don't forget to watch once it's released.

Ep. 64: Changing the Narrative in TV with Andy Mundy-Castle Until relatively recently, the phenomenon of white British families fostering Black children of West African descent was unknown. That's changing, thanks to advocacy by the late, great rapper TY, reporting by Symeon Brown, and the Africa International Film Festival - AFRIFF and BAFTA award-winning documentary “White Nanny, Black Child." This practice started in the 1960s and continued into the 1990s. These fostered children are now parents, uncles, aunties, and maybe, in some cases, grandparents. Some of them were public figures. This experience left an indelible mark on the identities of many of them. In this episode, Christabel N., speaks with Andy Mundy-Castle, the film's director. They discuss making the film, navigating the British media industry, and what creators should consider when telling a sensitive, important story. Isabella Deshon knew she loved movies from the moment her dad took her to the theater. However, she didn't know she was passionate about making them until high school. Since then, she has pursued this passion, which led her to our Bachelor in Communication and Digital Media. During her time at IE University, Isabella has explored her creativity through the IE Theater Club, and the IE Short Film Festival, where students can showcase their skills in a relaxed environment. Learn more about her artistic pursuits in the following episode of "In Their Shoes," or in this article.
