I think I made a bad decision... 😉 Instead of building a scene inside a Star Destroyer with Imperial Stormtroopers, as guided by Bad Decisions Studio's "Unreal Engine 5 Beginner Tutorial Series," I ventured into something entirely different. I'm thrilled to unveil Walk Away, a teaser trailer that dives into the realms of horror, suspense, and psychological thriller. For the past month and a half, I’ve been deeply immersed in this project while finishing my master’s degree. This journey has been challenging and incredibly rewarding, pushing me to explore new creative boundaries and refine my skills in Unreal Engine 5.4, DaVinci Resolve, and Premiere Pro. The process was intense but immensely satisfying as I watched my ideas transform into reality. There are many things I'd love to fix, but I had to "walk away" for this iteration; otherwise, I'd be working on it forever. Special thanks to: @badxstudio for the incredible tutorials on Unreal Engine Cinematic Production. @azielarts for your guidance on PCG in Unreal Engine 5.3+. @WilliamFaucher for teaching me how to go beyond rendering and into post-processing. 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲: 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝-𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐋𝐲𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐕𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐎𝐅𝐈 𝐊 - “𝐅𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧” As an independent animator and founder of Sundstedt Animation, I’m thrilled to share the story of one of my animated music video projects - the official animated lyric video for SOFI K’s hit single “Fall Back Down”. This project not only showcases my skills as an animator but also highlights the power of collaboration with songwriters and producers. The Challenge: When the SOFI K team entrusted me with creating an animated lyric video for their new single, I was thrilled to take on the challenge. With a clear understanding of the importance of storytelling in animation, I knew I had to bring my expertise to the table. The goal was to craft a visually stunning video that would harmonize with the song’s infectious melody and weave a narrative that would resonate with the audience. I was determined to deliver a standout project that would exceed SOFI K’s expectations, pouring my heart and soul into the work. The Solution: I handled every aspect from direction and design to animation and editing. I worked closely with SOFI K and their producer, Bryce Harding, to understand their vision and incorporate their feedback throughout the process. The result was a meticulously crafted 2D animated lyric video that brought the song’s lyrics to life. The Results: The video has received widespread acclaim, earning 18 awards and nominations at various film festivals, including the IndieX Awards, IMVA Awards, and Long Story Shorts International Film Festival. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with fans praising the video’s beautiful animation, catchy rhythm, and engaging storytelling. What Sets The Project Apart: This project stands out due to the level of attention to detail and dedication I brought to every aspect of the video. From the initial concept to the final edit, I was committed to creating a high-quality product that would exceed SOFI K’s expectations. It’s a real animated music video, with lyrics. What I Learned: This project taught me the importance of clear communication, collaboration, and attention to detail. Working closely with SOFI K and their producer allowed me to understand their vision & incorporate their feedback throughout the process. The result was a video that not only met but exceeded their expectations. Conclusion: I’m proud to have been a part of this project and grateful for the opportunity to showcase my skills as an animator.
