AI will not be taking my job…at least not this month anyway. For now, it’s a wonderfully interesting assistant. Having recently finished a 4-week, self-paced course on AI Filmmaking through Curious Refuge, I’ve come to appreciate how this crazy technology can help me be a better storyteller. The class stressed that AI applications are simply tools. Tools to help create images and find words. Like any creative process, whether assisted by AI or not, images and words are just that, until our own creative abilities shape them into stories that resonate with audiences. There are many, many AI tools available, all improving by the day, with many, many more being introduced each week. For our class we utilized AI tools for concept development, image creation, image uprezing, in-painting and out-cropping, camera motion, scene animation, face swapping, facial animation, lip-synch, and voice creation and manipulation. Some tools required text prompts starting what’s really an iterative process because an initial prompt rarely generated an image close to what was described. Interestingly, several well-known and widely used filmmaking applications for effects compositing, sound mixing, and video editing were critical in completing the weekly exercises. AI Filmmaking is a lot of work. Yet a lot of fun too. I got to be a writer/director/art director/cinematographer/animator/VFX artist/voice talent/sound mixer/editor all on the same project. Attached is my AI Filmmaking course week 4 assignment. It’s certainly not ready for primetime, far from it. At best it’s a pretty good animatic. The visual issues noticeable in this exercise, realism, consistency, motion, and quality will be resolved as these tools get better. Having seen work created by others who have advanced experience with these new and constantly evolving AI tools, I expect that some fantastic stories are coming. https://lnkd.in/e2tHr8sf

This is great Ken! I am curious to enroll in the course as well - it’s always a good idea to keep an open mind and to stay current with the latest advances in technology. And you’re right - it’s a tool!
Neat! Let's discuss the next time we get together!
You are a master at tools! AI should be worried!!
