Hello Friends, We've set up a GoFundMe for Maximus Health Emergency Funds. Within the last 12 months we have lost both Zenny and Patty due to unrelated and unexpected health issues. Last night, We had to rush Maximus to the Vet Hospital due to a prolapsed rectum. The Dr found that Max's colon was seriously inflamed, causing his medical emergency. This was out of nowhere. The Dr was able to resolve the symptom temporarily but the condition will be significantly more extensive. Maximus was diagnosed with Pneumatosis Coli, an incredibly rare but treatable condition. Expected cost for treatment could be in excess of $20,000, due to likely hospitalization. Max's current vitals are good as well as his spirit but he needs immediate care. Our Dogs are our Children, they mean Everything to us, they are our World. We're scared and we're reaching out to Family and Friends for Any donations to help us help our Baby Boy Maximus. Max is only 4 and has a long life to live filled with love and adventures. We'll post Doctor Bills, updates, letting everyone know Health updates on Maximus, I'm attaching the link to Maximus GoFundMe Page. I haven't stopped crying, the loss of my Boys has been beyond heartbreaking as a parent. We can't lose Maximus, he is our Light and our Joy. He has helped us and Bella heal from our loss of Rico, Zenny and Patty. Thank you for taking the time to care, it means more to us than you know❤️ https://lnkd.in/eyVSR3Pw

💛🧡💛 A GIFT OF TIME IS A GIFT IN KIND 💛🧡💛 A wonderful gentleman called David has graciously donated some books for our patients at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. These books had to sit for some time, aired and cleaned for infection control but have now been delivered to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary - Surgical Same Day Emergency Care. Surgical Same Day Emergency Care Sister & Well-being Ambassador, Laura; said “Our bookshelf on SSDEC is bare, any help would be appreciated”. Volunteering Services took action and provided SSDEC with the wonderful books David has graciously donated. It’s important we constantly look for ways to improve Patient Experience and make each visit, however long, as comfortable as possible. There are so many benefits to reading: 1. Enhances cognitive function 2. Increases knowledge 3. Expands vocabulary 4. Improves concentration and focus 5. Reduces stress 6. Enhances empathy 7. Boosts brain health 8. Decreases depression 9. Increases dopamine levels 10. Encourages personal growth and development Frequent reading and other brain exercises decrease mental decline by 32 percent. Quote: Mason Cooley “Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are”. Your gifts truly do make amazing things happen 💛🧡 #giftinkind #donation #volunteering #reading #mentalhealth #wellbeing #compassion

Understanding when to get admitted into hospice care Some people think that you only have hospice care when you are dying, but this is not true. A hospice palliative care team might help control symptoms such as pain or breathlessness early on in your illness, with you staying at the hospice for a few days before going home again. Or you might go into the hospice so that your family or carers can have a break from looking after you for a short while. This is called respite care. But not all hospices offer this service. Ask your #sparshhospice if it can offer you respite care. Some people have a number of periods of hospice care, depending on their condition and their wishes. Hospice care is free, paid for through a combination of funding and public donation. You can contact a hospice directly yourself. Places are limited, but you can contact your hospice to see what is available. #compassinatecare #palliativecare #qualityoflife

Our Urgent Care Appeal is all about supporting us to provide support to those facing life-limiting illnesses. Every donation counts, it helps bring comfort and care to patients and their families facing challenging times. We are seeing more patients, and their families turn to us for support, pain management, and end-of-life care within our Hospice in Basingstoke and in homes across North Hampshire. But our funds are stretched due to the current cost of living crisis, high fuel and energy costs, and high inflation rates, combined with over 15 years of below inflation increases to our government NHS funding. These external factors beyond our control mean we expect our costs this year to be almost £600,000 more than our income. Appeals like this are crucial because they provide an opportunity for our community to come together and support their local Hospice. Support us in helping to fund the vital care we provide: https://lnkd.in/e3E3CbCn Together, we can make a meaningful impact. 💙 #UrgentCareAppeal #StMichaelsHospice

With the onset of spring, our thoughts turn to renewal and growth, but it's also a time to consider safety. As the season brings more outdoor activities and gatherings, the importance of having accessible Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) cannot be overstated. Did you know that according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention... ❤️🩹Approximately 1.5 million heart attacks and strokes occur every year in the United States. ❤️🩹More than 800,000 people in the United States die from cardiovascular disease each year, about 160,000 of those deaths occurring in people under age 65. ❤️🩹Heart disease kills roughly the same number of people in the United States each year as cancer, lower respiratory diseases (including pneumonia), and accidents combined. This Fundraiser Friday, we hope to complete our original February goal of raising $3,000 to purchase 2 AEDs. So far, we've already raised over $1,300! AED stands for “Automated External Defibrillator" and it's a portable electronic device used to treat sudden cardiac arrest by delivering an electric shock to the heart to restore its normal rhythm. AEDs are simple to use, even for those without a background in medicine and are frequently found in public spaces like schools, airports, offices and healthcare settings. It’s designed to automatically analyze a person’s heart rhythm and deliver an electric shock if necessary to restore a normal heartbeat. AEDs can significantly increase a person’s chances of survival. In fact, AEDs can improve the survival rate for people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest by up to 75 percent! The purchase of 2 AEDs will help us in our goal of outfitting all Lancaster EMS vehicles with the device. Join us this Fundraiser Friday as we rally together to raise funds for AEDs, empowering us all to respond swiftly in times of cardiac emergencies. Together, let's make this spring season safer and brighter for everyone. As a nonprofit 501(c)(3), we rely directly on the community we serve for support. Lancaster EMS does not receive direct tax dollars. Will you be a heart hero this April? Click on the link below to donate⬇️🖥️ Or, donate via mail by sending cash or check to our West station at 100 E Charlotte Street, Millersville, PA, 17551📨 #ems #hearthealth #AED #Fundraising #lancasterpa #CardiovascularHealth #nonprofit https://lnkd.in/eszKVV7M

Six Months Ago, We Nearly Lost Our Son to Sepsis Six months ago, our son’s life hung by a thread. What started as a minor illness escalated into sepsis, then sceptic shock—a condition we didn’t fully understand until it was almost too late. But this wasn’t just a story of a sudden illness. The healthcare system failed. Sepsis was missed not once, but three seperate times. His symptoms—mottled skin, a high heart rate, and low blood pressure—were classic signs. Yet, delays in recognising and treating his condition meant he had to be transferred to another hospital and placed in intensive care. We are grateful beyond words that he survived and Southampton PICU was able to bring him back. But this experience has left us with deep sadness, frustration and a determination to ensure no other family endures what we did. Every year, 250,000 contract sepsis and many are left with life changing effects. Every year, 48,000 people die of sepsis in the UK. It’s treatable, it’s preventable, yet so many lives are lost because it’s not recognised in time. What needs to change? ⁉️ Public awareness: Would you know the symptoms? They include mottled skin, confusion, fever, high heart rate, low blood pressure, and extreme shivering. ⚕️Medical systems: Missed diagnoses cost lives. Early recognition and action are critical. We’re sharing this story because we believe it can save lives. My wife is running a 5K to raise awareness—not for donations, but for action. Please share this message widely. The more people who know about sepsis, the fewer families will face what we did. Sepsis is beatable. But only if we all know the signs and act fast. Let’s make sure no one else has to suffer like this.

Supporting lifesaving care in #Newport 💙 Persimmon East Wales has donated £1,000 to St David's Hospice Care, helping fund a new vein scanner for their in-patient unit. This donation, made through our Community Champions initiative, will support the hospice's incredible work providing palliative care to patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses. Their dedicated team delivers expert pain management and compassionate support, both at home and in their purpose-built hospice, free of charge. We presented the cheque alongside Newport City Councillor Jane Mudd FCIH, who represents the #Malpas ward where the hospice is based. From its humble beginnings caring for six patients in its first year, St David’s Hospice Care now supports over 3,400 people annually across South East Wales, making a profound difference in local communities. #PersimmonHomes

🌍 Be a Lifesaver: The Power of Blood Donation 💉❤️ Today, I had the privilege of participating in a life-changing initiative—the BetaLife Blood Donation Drive, supported by Access Bank and ACT Foundation. This experience not only emphasized the critical importance of donating blood but also reinforced the power of community in saving lives. Every day, countless individuals—newborns, mothers in childbirth, accident victims, and patients with life-threatening conditions—depend on donated blood for survival. Yet, the reality is that the demand often outweighs the supply, especially in regions where healthcare systems are under strain. By donating blood, we each contribute to: ✅ Saving Lives: A single donation can save up to three lives! ✅ Strengthening Healthcare Systems: Maintaining adequate blood supplies supports emergency care and routine treatments. ✅ Building Solidarity: Blood donation fosters unity and reminds us of our shared responsibility to care for one another. I encourage everyone to embrace the opportunity to donate blood and be part of this lifesaving movement. Small acts of kindness—like rolling up your sleeve—create ripples of hope and impact. A big thank you to Betalife Health Service for organizing this event and making a difference. Together, we are building healthier communities and inspiring positive change. #BloodDonation #CommunityImpact #HealthForAll #BetaLife #DonateBloodSaveLives #HealthcareHeroes
