Building a strong talent pipeline that fosters innovation, economic development, positive societal impact, and life-changing jobs.
Huge shout out to Dr. Chrissann Ruehle and Dr. Tracy Elliott for hosting an insightful "Teaching, Learning and Researching with AI Symposium" at Florida Gulf Coast University yesterday. Dr. Leandro de Castro delivered the opening keynote. I was reminded of the "Power of the AND" while listening to faculty members demonstrate how the use of AI in their pedagogy has positively impacted student outcomes while others took a more "Techno-Skeptical" approach to ensure students understood the power and impact of artificial intelligence on society and the planet. It left me reflecting on how higher education can make sure all students graduate with AI skills that are now deemed essential in the workplace AND a commitment to make sure they ask "How can we use AI for this use case without creating undo harm?" It's exciting to see colleges and universities across the state of FL ramping up their efforts to integrate AI into teaching, learning and researching with this in mind. It is also encouraging to see national organizations building capacity for similar efforts across the country.
