From October 24-31, a delegation of Uzbekistan’s top tech startups completed an inspiring week in Silicon Valley and San Francisco, thanks to the USAID Business Support Project, in collaboration with IT PARK Uzbekistan and Silk Road Innovation Hub. This program provided Uzbek early-stage tech startups with invaluable opportunities to participate in TechCrunch Disrupt and the Central Eurasia Silicon Valley conference, held at the iconic Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Here, founders, investors, and ecosystem builders gathered to connect Central Eurasian innovation with Silicon Valley’s dynamic community. Workshops, company visits, and exclusive networking events enriched the week, giving Uzbekistan’s tech pioneers firsthand experience and insights into the world’s leading tech ecosystem. Each event excites me with new connections, expanding my circle of acquaintances and friends. This recent one was no exception. 🇺🇿🤝 The “Build with AI for Sustainable Growth” Hackathon, organized by Google and StrategEast at Astana Hub was a fantastic experience for me. As a jury member, I enjoyed each presentation, appreciating the intelligence and talent of young innovators. Their dedication to creating projects that positively impact society was truly inspiring. The event featured 21 teams presenting startups focused on making the world better, uniting top developers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia, with opportunities for additional investment support. 📌 The following projects were declared winners: 1️⃣ First Place: JolQal.ai (Kazakhstan) 2️⃣ Second Place: Airth (Georgia) 3️⃣ Third Place: FarmForward (Azerbaijan) I wish all startup projects great success and the strength to keep going! With contributions from the OECD - OCDE, EU, Center for AI and Digital Policy, SAP, Microsoft, IBM, and more, we explored how our region can lead in transparent, democratic, and human-centered AI.
