Once upon a time, "strategy" and "foresight" were a part of the same discipline, though they've drifted further and further apart over time. Amy Webb rightly argues that the two are both valuable and can actually support one another quite well: after all, strategic processes can easily devolve into checking boxes and meaningless routines without foresight to guide the way. As she puts it, strategy without foresight makes organizations vulnerable to outside disruption, while foresight without strategy renders scenarios unactionable, As such, Webb advocates for what she calls "strategic foresight". Strategic foresight is a disciplined and systematic approach to identify where to play, how to win in the future, and how to ensure organizational resiliency in the face of unforeseen disruption. Given the uncertainty of our current business environment, strategic foresight is essential for organizations looking to innovate and achieve growth. #BusinessStrategy #ChangeManagement #StrategicPlanning

In partnership with an innovation-led consultancy, we are tackling this issue head-on. Our mission is to equip leaders with the knowledge and strategies needed to radically enhance transformation success. Very exciting times ahead! #meliumconsulting #transformationsucess

Strategy and foresight were once the same discipline but for a while now, the two have diverged. Whilst this was happening, companies lost the synergy that originally made each discipline so potent. Strategy without foresight = companies vulnerable to outside disruption. Foresight without strategy = scenarios are rendered unactionable. Each on its own has value, but our current business environment demands both. So, what does true strategic foresight entail? Amy Webb breaks it down. #Strategy #Foresight #BusinessLeadership
