And when I started my business, I discovered that while it is easy to start a business today, it is not easy to build it and keep it running. I relied heavily on others for their advice and help - advisors, mentors and resources. Having a coach provided that objective perspective, accountability and problem-solving that kept me on track. ⬇️ 👇 Why receiving services at the right time matters.👇 ⬇️ Our recent brief titled "Bridging Gaps in Small Business Support Services for Black Entrepreneurs" highlights the importance of receiving business services at the right time. 60% of the awardee businesses gained valuable insights that would influence how they spend grant funding. These insights would have influenced how they used the grant funding if they had received it later in the program. The business owners emphasized that receiving services before grant disbursement was essential. Small Business Week 2024: Policies Matter and Small Businesses are Not Getting What They Need This week (April 28-May 4) has been declared “National Small Business Week” by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The week acknowledges “the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners,” according to the SBA. SBE Council president & CEO Karen Kerrigan issued a statement noting the week: "We salute and celebrate the millions of entrepreneurs, small business owners and their employees who work hard every day to achieve their dreams...we look forward to working with our small business members, friends in Congress and in the business community to press forward on highlighting the sound policies that support small business growth and success.
