Since the beginning of the project, we have encountered numerous challenges, particularly in gaining access to refugees due to their protection by relevant authorities. However, we are actively engaging in stakeholder meetings and data collection. If you have experience or insights related to the refugee issue, we would love to hear from you. Today is World Refugee Day. In this blog, Gulwali Passarlay describes what it was like telling his story of coming to the UK as child refugee, his reflections on the hostile rhetoric and what we can do. How about marking the day by reading the interview?
I wanted not just to tell my story but also the story of millions of others who are forced to make similar journeys’ In this interview with Sinéad Mangan-Mc Hale with Gulwali Passarlay describes how: Once a child fleeing the chaos of war, he has transformed his harrowing journey into a powerful mission of advocacy and compassion. Now a prominent activist, he dedicates his life to championing the rights and dignity of refugees, inspiring hope and change with an unwavering commitment to a more compassionate society. https://lnkd.in/eB4Szag7 #WorldRefugeeDay hashtag #RefugeeWeek hashtag #Storiesthatmatter hashtag #RefugeesWelcome hashtag #TGIUK hashtag #Stories Sinéad Mangan-Mc Hale

In 2024, nearly 300 million people will require humanitarian assistance. The world has become increasingly hostile to children and their rights. Large-scale drivers of needs – climate disruption, armed conflict and economic shocks – are accelerating at a time when the most vulnerable enjoy fewer protections. Almost 1 child in every 5 around the world is living in or fleeing from conflict zones. Today, we launched the Humanitarian Plan 2024. This is an annual report published at the beginning of each year to outline Save the Children’s priorities in support of children’s rights in humanitarian contexts all over the World. It shows both the key challenges that children will face nowadays and highlights our planned humanitarian programme and advocacy response in the year ahead. “We will aim to assist approximately 27.4 million people, including 15.9 million children, across 46 countries in response to what is undeniably the most significant threat to children’s rights in recent memory,” says Inger Ashing, Chief Executive Officer, Save the Children International. #Humanitarian #Aid #HumanitarianPlan

🌐 On this International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, let's remember the children living in war zones around the world. They face unimaginable horrors daily—unsafe in their homes, schools, and hospitals. In 2022 alone, over 8,630 children were killed or maimed, and 7,622 were recruited for combat. The lack of humanitarian aid and the frequent attacks on education and health facilities intensify their situation of vulnerability. 🤝 Since 2007, FMSI is dedicated to advocating for the human rights of all children worldwide. Let's unite to end these grave violations and protect the future of children. #internationaldayofinnocentchildrenvictimsofaggression #childrights #childrightsmatter #stopviolenceagainstchildren #StopViolenceAgainstChild #humanrights #Advocacy (Source: UN)

Such a good statement, worth reading in full: calling for a ceasefire, for investment in peacemaking, and for the peacebuilding sector around the world to tackle the rise in hate, antisemitism and Islamophobia
The Alliance for Peacebuilding called for a doubling of MEPPA this week to increase funding for civil society peacebuilding and economic development in the region, one of ALLMEP's key advocacy priorities. Thank you for supporting peacebuilders at this critical time: https://lnkd.in/eGYP9XH4

“What is our legal status in Bangladesh? Are our children entitled to the same rights as Bangladeshi children? How can we navigate the Bangladeshi legal system to protect them?” These are the questions voiced by Rohingya parents, seeking assistance in a system they barely understand. Partnering with UNICEF, I worked to uncover these pressing issues, driven by the need to answer their questions. My recently published blog sheds light on the justice mechanisms available for Rohingya children, mapping the legal landscape that defines their lives in Bangladesh. Take a moment to read and explore this journey toward understanding and advocacy for Rohingya children. #childrights #CRC #humanrights #Rohingyainflux #justice #childjustice #Unicef

Today, we solemnly commemorate the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery. In rural Tanzania, where the echoes of the slave trade still reverberate through the landscape, we are committed to empowering communities and building a more equitable society. Our recent initiative highlighted in the link (https://lnkd.in/emmafpHE this commitment, focusing on empowering girls—a group historically marginalized and vulnerable to exploitation. On this day of remembrance, let us renew our commitment to justice, equality, and empowerment.
