Move everything ... Even with a good idea of what I want to create before entering the studio, nothing remains untouched. The product, props and lights all change and move about. Even minor modifications can create a huge difference in your images. And when the client gallery arrives, clients find they have multiple choices for each shot, making it easier to find exactly what they need. (And sometimes even more!) #productphotography #productphotographer #maryland

There's a difference between a design centric occupation vs Art centric. Most people misunderstand what's design vs what's art. if you are doing and without anyone's involvement it's art, Writing a Book is art, writing an independent film script is art, Doing street photography is art. Writing for Advertising is design because it involves other people's views, research, call to action, product placement. commerical film script writing is design because someone is doing dialogue, someone else is doing action scenes elaboration, someone is writing treatment for lovemaking choreography. doing Portrait Photography is design because those Photos going to sell a certain product or an idea there's nothing abstract about it like it's in street photography. Design is deep rooted collaborative, Art is an expression. #Design #Art #Marketing

Check out my latest spontaneous “Fogue” shoot! As an artist, I wanted to mix up my approach and try something new. Using Daz3D and Photoshop, I created a scene that was super basic but the quality of the textures came out amazing. It's always exciting to experiment with different techniques and see the results. Have you tried mixing up your artistic approach lately? Share your experience in the comments below! #art #artist #digitalart #3Dart #experimentation

Would love to hear what title sequence inspired you? Back in the early days of motion graphics, studios like Digital Kitchen produced beautifully animated title sequences for film and television. The HBO show, Six Feet Under is no exception. Designed and concepted by legendary creative director Danny Yount, in my opinion, it’s one of their best! Yount's insights into his creative process for Six Feet Under offer valuable lessons to reflect upon. “I love photography, looking at something different and learning to look at something different…that is the thing about it that really inspires me…you lock yourself in a moment that you have to study”. “How do I turn this into something that is more ethereal and surreal and something that has a lot of depth to it. I wanted it to be centered around the life of a mortician. I was a little concerned with the death metaphor and didn’t want to portray the sequence in a negative light”. "As a younger designer, I used to be afraid if I did something that was cliché or literal that would become the end product, but now I kinda of look at it as sometimes you have to start there. Blue is blue, red is red, you just kind of start there and as the process develops then you question yourself and you really kind of sort these things out as you go along". Typography fans, be sure to check this out if you haven't already! #motiongraphics #titlesequence #digitalkitchen #sixfeetunder #typographydesign #hbo

The 60-30-10 Rule: Mastering Color Theory in Film Color is a powerful tool in visual storytelling, capable of evoking emotions, setting moods, and drawing attention. The 60-30-10 rule is a timeless principle in color theory that helps creators balance colors effectively in their work. Let's explore how this rule is applied in photography and film to create visually appealing compositions. What is the 60-30-10 Rule? The 60-30-10 rule is a simple guideline for using color in design, ensuring a balanced and harmonious look. It involves dividing colors into three proportions: 60% Dominant Color: This is the main color in your composition, setting the overall tone and background. 30% Secondary Color: This color supports the dominant color, adding depth and interest. 10% Accent Color: This is the smallest proportion, used to highlight important elements and create contrast. The 60-30-10 rule is a valuable tool in the arsenal of photographers and filmmakers, helping them create balanced, harmonious, and visually appealing compositions. By understanding and applying this rule, creators can enhance their storytelling, evoke the desired emotions, and ensure their work stands out. #ColorTheory #60-30-10Rule #Filmmaking

My new BLOG: PHOTOGRAPHING HER IN THE STUDIO Normally, I'd rather photograph on location and not in a studio. For the kind of shooting I do, locations seem to offer far more picture possibilities. But a studio has advantages too. I discuss this in my new BLOG using several of my own images. Click on the picture below to read the blog on my website.
