These tourists demand exceptional train service, and Florida is rising to the occasion, slowly but surely. Keep an eye on Brightline West between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. What route should it take? Should it go south to Rancho Cucamonga and transfer riders to Metrolink, or should it follow the High-Desert Corridor between Victorville and Palmdale, and then share tracks with California High-Speed Rail between Palmdale and Los Angeles? Hello Austin Community! - Traffic! We are all aware of the proposed I-35 expansion plan. 🚧🚗🚚 The expansion is targeted to reduce traffic congestion and improve transportation efficiency. Austin is celebrated for its natural beauty and outdoor activities. The I-35 expansion, while aimed to cut traffic, would create a surge in vehicle emissions, with thousands of cars idle during the construction phase. Even after completion, if more and more people choose to drive because of the additional highway capacity, we might end up with the same, if not worse, levels of pollution. Because of this the city of Austin has pushed for a pause on the expansion project for the time being. Cities face several issues or #challenges when adopting #PublicTransport based on #electromobility. 🌿🚌 The most relevant are #Infrastructure, #Costs, #Management of #public #space, #regulations and #policies, as well as #education and #awareness. Of these, perhaps the most decisive is #Infrastructure, which also conditions many other aspects and challenges. Why? Because the #installation of adequate #charging #infrastructure 🔌🔋 is essential to support the #operation of electric buses in a city. #ChargingPoints "within" the urban core and at "key" points are of utmost importance. This, coupled with the #space requirements for both these charging infrastructures and for #fleet #management and bus movements, results in the need for public space management. Addressing these challenges requires close #collaboration between #local #governments, #transport #companies, #infrastructure #providers and the #community at large. Is our city ready to #help the #planet?? 🌍 Having a good freight infrastructure provides the building blocks to make it so👌

It's amazing how pleasant cities that put active and public transit first are to be in, compared to those that don't. Cities like Singapore and Amsterdam have proven it works in different climates and cultures. Cities that prioritize active and public transit are quieter, cleaner, more convenient, and more affordable. Over time, cities that invest in active and public transit can halve their average carbon pollution footprint without requiring any special effort from individuals. Active and public transit investments are among the most effective climate actions that cities and their citizens can support.

The $12 billion Brightline West railroad project, backed by a $3 billion federal investment, aims to revolutionize U.S. high-speed rail travel. Slated to cut travel time between Las Vegas and Southern California to just 90 minutes, this project hopes to both reduce emissions and set a national blueprint—but it does not come without risks. With a dual-track business model, Brightline could end up focusing instead on its real estate business and leave the rail business, something that Ethan Elkind, Director of the Climate Program at CLEE, notes has happened with multiple municipal transit systems in the past. "Usually what happens in that instance [is] there’s a lot of political pressure for the public sector to bail them out,” he remarks.
