⚡ From grid modernization and resilience to energy storage, our experts are sharing their sustainable energy research at the IEEE 2024 Conference on Innovative Smart Grid Technologies in Washington, D.C. this week. Learn more ⤵️

When we first started talking with Continuous Solutions, they were already in the fourth generation of their Common Mode Inverter, which is used in a variety of applications, including renewable energy systems, electric vehicles, and the Navy. Although our actual engagement wasn't scheduled to begin for a few more months, we suggested taking a closer look at their design to identify manufacturability optimization opportunities early on, before the design was finalized.  Over the course of three two-hour sessions —a discovery session on Monday, an internal session on Tuesday, and a presentation on Wednesday—we were able to show them how to remove 64% of their part count. In just six hours of work, we found a path to eliminate 2/3s of the parts. We also designed compliant features that were built into the assembly process, allowing operators to easily bolt down components without the risk of maladjustment or inconsistency. This ensured that the manufacturing process was as efficient as possible and that quality was consistent throughout.  At the end of the day, our approach was simple: scale what you need, and eliminate what you don't. By doing this, we were able to help Continuous Solutions achieve greater efficiency and lower costs, setting them up for long-term success.
