Maintaining the integrity of offshore infrastructures is crucial—and underwater inspections play a pivotal role. While traditional tools like multibeam echosounders and laser scanners have long been the go-to for horizontal asset inspections, the landscape is changing 🌊 For vertical inspections, cutting-edge computer vision technologies such as VSLAM and photogrammetry are emerging as game-changers. In today's blog, we dive deep into the advantages of using the Voyis Discovery Stereo Camera integrated with Voyis VSLAM Powered by EIVA a/s NaviSuite for vertical inspections. We also compare this with underwater laser scanners, like our Voyis Insight, to provide a clear view of when each technology shines! As the only company offering both of these advanced solutions, Voyis is uniquely positioned to provide an objective comparison, helping you choose the right tool for the job. 🔗 Click here to read the full blog and learn more about these technologies and their applications: https://lnkd.in/ggRBXuMe #VSLAM #UnderwaterTechnology #SubseaEngineering #OceanTech

We are currently testing the optimal guidance algorithm I’ve been working on for the past 6 months ! It is similar to the G-FOLD (Guidance for Fuel Optimal Large Divert) algorithm initially developed by NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and tested on Masten Space Systems’ Xombie Lander. Here is one of the untethered flights performed with uMouche, with the computation being ran on a Raspberry Pi and the generated trajectory fed to the controller for the descent. This is part of my research project at Ecole Supérieure des Techniques Aéronautiques et de Construction Automobile 🚀
Experimental #GNC testing is progressing ! 🚀 Our GNC team started testing our #optimal #guidance algorithm for #powered #descent, which can create efficient landing paths using minimal fuel. These tests performed with uMouche, our small-scale demonstrator, at heights of up to 17m and a horizontal distance of 9m, showed that the #algorithm can effectively generate #realtime trajectories without disrupting other GNC critical processes 🔥 Platinum partner 🚀: Almatech SA Gold partners 🥇: VectorNav Technologies / Association des communes de Crans-Montana (ACCM) / JAVAD GNSS / Meili Technology SA / Alpin Mécanique Sàrl / SWISSto12 / Brütsch/Rüegger Tools / Kistler Group / Astrocast #Guidance #OptimalPath #GNC #trajectory

Our team member Luca Nicola Quaroni was in Rome to present some outcomes of the HOPE Horizon Europe project. During the 30th AIAA/CEAS Aeroacoustics Conference, Delft University of Technology presented a paper entitled “𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐧𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐛𝐲 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫”, which collected some preliminary results from WP3. #Acoustic and #aerodynamic measurements were conducted in an anechoic, open-jet #windtunnel facility to study the influence of the collective blade pitch angle in the noise emissions by an isolated propeller under different turbulent inflow conditions. The work will support the design of the boundary layer ingestion system to be equipped in the HOPE aircraft, with the final goal of maximizing #propulsion efficiency while minimizing local #noise around the airports. Link to the paper in the comment.
