In my opinion, as a general public, we have not received anything in return from the government in the last 75 years. Home mortgage, free & cheap health care, free drinking water, free education, cheap electricity, civic facilities for an ordinary man? or any of the above for taxpayers? The money is always spent on constructing new buildings and maintaining a large bureaucratic staff, controlled by government officials, their friends, relatives, and political parties in power. And in the end? I believe a country like Pakistan. Where the accountability is zero. the govt must not involve itself directly in any business but make policies for easy & better investment opportunities. I & millions of Pakistanis are from middle class and I can't recall any money being spent directly on the health and well-being of the common man in Pakistan. It's always for a special segment of society to support the government at that time. It's always civil & military bureaucracy, judges, journalists, media men, lawyers. Yes, it's not 1OO% free of corruption & fair. but that doesn't mean it's not beneficial for us. For me, the biggest asset of a country is its people, and any money spent on the common man is never wasted. Since the common man always builds the country, not the elite class or any special segment of society.
