PTSD is a naturally occurring reaction to traumatic events. At a mental health conference I attended a nationally renowned expert on trauma asserted they would worry more about the wellbeing of the individual who underwent traumatic experiences and did not develop PTSD. In fact, they further asserted that PTSD was one of the only mental health conditions in the DSM that is completely preventable-if only we could completely eradicate trauma. For now, that is not possible. But understanding and recognizing PTSD in ourselves and others could help prevent complex PTSD through assertive interventions. There should be no shame or stigma associated with PTSD, rather empathy and compassion and understanding for self and others. Peace to all! #ptsdawareness #ptsd #trauma #traumaresponse #trauma #traumasurvivor

Yes, and tragically, needlessly, the standard treatment for PTSD is ineffective and even harmful! It nearly killed me. Fortunately, I came across the field of Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), which offers a sensible and actual scientific framework for understanding PTSD and well-being/health/mental health. Unlike mainstream psychiatry, psychology, and medicine, IPNB recognizes the interconnectedness of brain, mind, and relationships, promoting a holistic approach to healing by addressing cognitive, emotional, neurophysiological, and relational aspects of trauma. https://lnkd.in/e7x--WWZ

Trauma Informed therapy and education. From concept to biology; we are not sick, we are logical. No solution without system change, internal and external.
9moFrom an Trauma Informed perspective: Our capitalistic society is traumitizing. Because it is shaming and there is no space for being and developing who you really are, authenticity. That’s what trauma is; a wound to your self identity; shame and devaluation of self. So we go through life trying to keep afloat. Using substances, addictive behavior, over-controling by analysing etc etc. That is hard work and makes you more anxious, bit you don’t know how to handle the emotions any other way. That is a progressive process while you age and get more and more adult responsibilities.
