The first step in managing performance is to set clear expectations and get agreement from the performer. Makes it much easier to provide feedback when things go sideways.

It's time to rebalance the gender representation among world leaders, to foster a culture of thoughtfulness and foresight instead of aggression. This shift is crucial to address the numerous ongoing conflicts worldwide with compassion and clarity.

Little known fact: I was a champion discus thrower. 👊🏽🥏 Growing up, I always played sports. I was considered a jock - a rough and tough ball player, a fierce wing and defensive volleyball player. But I also threw a mean discus in track and field. I loved following Valarie Allman’s recent repeat gold medal victory in discus at the Paris Olympics. Why? First off, this sport is never in the spotlight. The training is intense and there is usually no glory. Valarie made it look effortless and she had her well-deserved moment of recognition. P.S. She also holds the USA national record, and owns 27 of the 30 longest distances for American women in discus throw history. 😳😄 It reminded me of all the work we do behind the scenes: on personal development, our career growth, our skill set, our relationships. Don’t expect people to always pat you on the back for every little thing. You may have to keep on working tirelessly for awhile before that recognition comes. But YOU are also responsible for creating those moments when people finally see you in the spotlight. Some may think, “Wow, she made that look easy.” But most likely, there were hundreds of hours of work behind those big (and small) wins. Your work ethic is the basis of success. You are responsibile for making your successes known. 🙌🏽🌟 #wednesdaywisdom #leadership #workethic

𝐓𝐨𝐩 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 (Sports) 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 Irish Rugby Coach, Andy Farrell, on spotting a nervous Calvin Nash ahead of his starting debut against France last week: AF: "You've been quiet this week..." CN: "How has he spotted this?" AF: "What are you going to do in attack? CN: answers in detail AF: "What are you going to do in defence?" CN: answers in detail AF: "There you go, there’s all the answers; just be yourself." Really nice example of helping someone else to focus their attention in the right areas via questioning... providing some certainty in a threatening situation. #performance #coaching

A dry Croke Park.. The GAA is displaying a commendable example of prioritising responsible alcohol consumption over financial gain, especially in the context of their stance on alcohol consumption at sporting events. Unlike the scenarios where American football and Bruce Springsteen concerts at Croke Park allow fans to enjoy alcoholic beverages from their seats, the GAA's approach warrants attention for its forward-thinking stance on public health and safety when it comes to Irish sport. This discrepancy isn't merely about creating a double standard but underscores a deeper commitment to encouraging more responsible alcohol consumption among fans, irrespective of the event when it comes to Irish sport. What rockers or other foreign sports do is not relevant to it. Thems their rules. In not extending the permission to consume alcohol directly in the seating areas to all events, the GAA indirectly supports efforts made elsewhere, like the rugby Principality Stadium in Wales and Twickenham, to offer a more inclusive and comfortable environment for all attendees. It reflects government health policy. Irish rugby choses to ignore this The GAA's stance reflects its values. Rugby had a choice whether to accept these values and are lucky to be allowed to play at Croke Park at all

🚀 **Aston Villa’s Set-Piece Vulnerability: Key Defensive Challenges** ⚽️ ### 📊 **Set-Piece Statistics:** - **Goals Conceded:** Out of the 61 goals Aston Villa conceded this season, 17 came from set-pieces. - **Percentage:** This means that approximately 27.9% of their goals conceded were from set-pieces. ### 🔄 **Defensive Issues in Set-Pieces:** 1. **Late Movement from CBs:** One major issue has been the delayed response and movement from the center-backs. This lack of timely action has allowed opponents to capitalize on set-piece opportunities. 2. **Escaping Marking:** Aston Villa’s defenders have struggled with maintaining their marking assignments, often allowing opponents to escape and find space in critical areas. 3. **No Coverage Outside the Box:** Additionally, there has been a lack of coverage outside the box, leaving space for opponents to exploit and create scoring opportunities from second balls. #AstonVilla #PremierLeague #SetPieceDefense #FootballTactics #SoccerAnalysis #DefensiveStrategy MADE IT WITH Once Sport

Thinking Clearly Under Pressure - (TCUP) As many football and rugby competitions near closure and as the GAA season hots up, sport psychologists often get asked about how they can help getting athletes to perform under pressure. Here is some perspective from how the great All Black teams dealt with pressure.... "Anton Oliver – an All Black at the world cup in 2007 gives some insight into what may have been involved in James Kerr’ book “Legacy“. Remembering the “cues” from 2007, he said “I can still remember them……….TQB, top quality ball. OTG, over the gainline. KBA, keep ball alive. LQB, lightening quick ball. You get those four things going, we’re fine………that gave us the template to figure out the game”. The fallen giants are back on their feet! From the lows of relegation and a real fear for the club as it failed to earn promotion on the first time of asking against Fulham at Wembley, which plunged us into financial crisis due to an unpaid tax bill. It is fair to say as a fan of the club, it was bleak times. However in the words of life-long Villa fan and Actor David Bradley, "The lows... just make the highs higher". And he was right. New ownership came in from Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, daring the Villa Faithful to dream once more with their continuous investment into the club. They brought in Dean Smith, who guided us to promotion to the Premier League in 2019, taking us on a record breaking journey with the help of stand out performances from Jack Grealish, Tyrone Mings and John McGinn to name but only a few. Fast forward to last year, a lifeless looking team under a different manager, and on the brink of yet another relegation scrap 11 games in, the decision to go out and get the best manager in the world (no bias I swear), Unai Emery, is a decision that will go down in Villa history. He flipped the script entirely, drawing out the best in his players, guiding them to the European Conference League in that same season. Many Villa fans may have thought, 'This is as good as it gets. After seeing West Ham struggle with the new introduction to Europe in their schedule, lets make the most out of playing amazing opposition on Thursday and play great football.' But they would be completely wrong. Although starting the campaign on a 5-1 defeat to Newcastle, Unai Emery with now captain John McGinn managed to navigate the Premier League, defeating tough opposition like Manchester City and Arsenal within 4 days of each other whilst simultaneously playing European heavyweights with the likes of Lille, Ajax and Olympiakos. And in the end, for the first time in 41 years, Aston Villa Football Club is playing in the Champions League! All I have to say is... Do you want to bet against us? #AVFC #UTV #VTID #UCL
