📣 On this important day, as our new board take it's place, we are launching the much anticipated document, "Safer Crowds, Safer Venues Good Practice for Crowd Management in UK Performance and Licensed Spaces" A true labour of love behind the scenes, we have successfully gathered over 50 industry authors, editors and collaborators from across the spectrum of Crowd Management professionals to work voluntarily to produce the draft. A big thank you to everybody who contributed their time, effort and expertise to make this project possible. 🙌 Together with Night Time Industries Association NTIA and LIVE (Live music Industry Venues and Entertainment), we are proud to present this document to the community free of charge. In recent years there have been several high-profile incidents which have resulted in loss of life or serious injury due to failings with operational crowd management. The purpose of this supporting document is to provide venue operators, organisers and their stakeholders with a general outline of what currently constitutes accepted good practice in terms of crowd management for performance spaces and licensed venues in the United Kingdom. It is not often that guidance comes along. In this case it has never been more relevant. Aimed at those events and crowded places that we tried to shoehorn in those bigger pieces such as the Green and Purple Guide. Written to be easily adopted by all and understood. Chapter 13 provides a very high level summary of what should be considered by organisers/promoters of events in smaller indoor venues (up to 5k capacity) when determining the event healthcare needs of their anticipated audience.

Not sure what more there is that hasn't already been said? - timely and needed good practice guide for venues (up to 5000) - mainly centred on crowd management, but touches on a host of other factors - written (and edited) by some outstanding individuals - starting to fill an identified gap - too indoorsy for the Purple guide, not sporty enough for the Green guide, not technical enough for the Yellow. Will this evolve to become the Blue guide?? 🤞

Steve Moore, founder and chief executive of Red Engine Team, the Flight Club and Electric Shuffleboard operator, talks to Katherine Doggrell at Propel's Multi Club conference about how the company has become a £100m-turnover business, its growth plans for the UK and the US, how it continues to innovate its F&B offer and games. Quick quotes from Steve: "Stories is big for us - what we send out after the event - photos etc... we treat re-bookers really well and we have customers who go to multiple venues in one night as the offer is slightly different in each venue." "US market is a bit bizarre, in UK we are comfortable and we can localise the product nicely.. but there are many differences across cities and states, and social behaviour is different, in US it is more event-led... we have 8/9 sites and we think we can go to 200 in US, we are working on whether the smaller model works... the big one definitely does... our focus is on Australia, US and UK... F&B is about 70% of our revenue." "Electric Shuffle is just about to launch in New York.. our average group size is ten and we focus on the ability to entertain groups." "In UK London we will probably go to 12 but I would love to go explore smaller places for further growth... we have calls for the technology to be licensed but we refuse because we see it as part of our brand package." There are always detailed and practical ideas on how to increase the user's LTV or average revenue per customer, decrease churn, reduce customer acquisition cost, provide all levels of management with the same source of insights, get more practical, and improve relevancy audiences or marketing campaign insights to speed up decision-making that change the way they launch new products and so many other helpful details. I hope many more people from Central & Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and India will make it this time, and there is no better day than today to plan for it. The other best day was yesterday ;)

An interesting article on crowd safety measures at Glastonbury 2024. A surface level reading seems to indicate strong processes to keep people safe. As the article states, and having experienced it myself, a diverse range of acts on smaller tents and the number of people they can attract is part of the magic of the festival. Part of the art for crowd safety is to enable the magic to be created whilst keeping people safe. It’s never going to be popular triggering safety measures but when done properly, should be applauded. https://lnkd.in/ghV8PZDt
