💡 When planning a wind farm, it's crucial to involve local experts along with engineers, planners, and project managers. The local community is the best partner for this. That's why we met in Tsirguliina to show the neighbors of the Herro wind farm what it will look like in the future and to gather useful feedback through an innovative workshop to help place the turbines more effectively. Our very own CEO, Balázs Gyepes, recently gave an interview to the official newspaper of the Hungarian Chamber of Engineers, the Mérnök Újság. Mr Gyepes was asked about his thoughts on the current Hungarian renewable energy market, as well as his predictions about upcoming pitfalls - and how to possibly avoid them. In a candid tone, he shared that the next great challenge will be updating the national grid connection system so it can handle the incoming influx of energy – a truly massive undertaking. The only solution to bridge this period and to come out on top lies in investing in energy battery systems. STS remains a pioneer in this area, as our company group was the first to use the promising Vanadium-Redox Flow system in this region in one of its latest project. Mr Gyepes also spoke about the importance of quality engineering work in designing and the added value professionalism and great know-how brings to the table. There seems to be – thankfully – a growing tendency to value the quality of the work through performance indicators just as much as the cost-effectiveness. A definite shift towards valuing long-term benefits over possible short term gains, a shift we whole-heartedly welcome. Read the full article to find out more: https://lnkd.in/dE8Dmd3Z

🌿 Nearly two-thirds of businesses with 50 or more employees have a positive outlook on the green reform, according to a survey conducted by Norstat. Support for the green transition is significantly higher among entrepreneurs compared to the general population: 👉 Among companies with 50 or more employees, 63% support the green transition 👉 A regular nationwide monitoring survey by the State Chancellery shows that 48% of the general population supports the green transition The survey also asked business leaders under what conditions they would be willing to maximize their use of renewable energy. "A third of entrepreneurs mentioned that tax incentives related to the renewable electricity component could increase the use of renewable energy," commented our CEO Mihkel Loorits. The poll was conducted in May this year, surveying 200 managerial-level individuals. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gxARupp4

Process Manager of Thermal Inspection of Renewable Energy Assets | Freelance in FP&A and Controlling
Whether we agree with the article below, In recent times, Western European countries with advanced #solarpower programs have started witnessing a concerning trend – a surge in rooftop fires associated with solar power plants. Reports indicate a strong correlation between these incidents and the lack of professionalism in construction practices, coupled with the use of subpar materials. As the #solarindustry experiences an unprecedented boom, fueled by heightened demand for rooftop solar plants, my concern deepens. The intersection of this rapid growth and a shortage of skilled professionals could potentially pave the way for avoidable troubles. We have seen similar issues a few years back when numerous construction companies were established to supply the boom of house construction. The results...? Glaring gaps, even to the lay eye. #solarpower #solarenergy #photovoltaic #hungary https://lnkd.in/dcTVNyhh

Estonia now has a new government! 🇪🇪 Coalition agreement focuses a lot on the development of renewable energy in Estonia. The agreement includes also: The creation of an instrument to facilitate the conclusion of direct electricity purchase agreements between large energy consumers and energy producers. 💡 Our CEO Mihkel Loorits raised the issue in the media at the end of last year. The solution could be moving renewables to a stand-alone market-based platform. "The market-based conversion of renewable energy could take place in such a way that the system operator provides a transparent price-fixing platform based on data collected from market participants, where the price is fixed between producers and consumers," said Mihkel Loorits. Would bring six major advantages over the current system: a favourable and stable price for consumers ✅ the disappearance of the renewables fee ✅ transparency ✅ certainty for producers to make long-term investments ✅ faster development of renewables in general ✅ Read more about the solution at the link below ⬇ #estonia #sustainablefuture

Lili Kirikal, the CFO of Sunly, who has also been awarded the title of the most influential financial manager of the year, states that there is currently a burning need in the renewable energy sector for the government to make decisions with long-term impact. "Estonia has decided to cover its annual electricity consumption with renewable energy by 2030. Onshore wind and hybrid farms are the cornerstone of achieving this goal. At the same time, there is no clear answer to the question of what happens when the wind doesn't blow and the sun doesn't shine," Kirikal stated. Lili also talked about Sunly's financial strategy to become an independent renewable energy producer, our construction and development plans for the pipeline this year, and her own journey to the finance world. 🤝 A goodwill cooperation agreement was signed between the City of Pärnu, Enefit Green, and Sunly, which will help contribute to the local community's well-being once the Põlendmaa wind farm is up and running. The agreement confirms that the parties will work closely together on building the Põlendmaa wind farm, focusing on improving local life and that possible obstacles will be resolved in a positive manner. Priit Lepasepp, co-founder and CEO of Sunly, emphasized that working closely with communities from the start is a key part of Sunly's approach. He said, "Building the wind farm in this area will benefit local people by lowering electricity costs and creating new roads that make everyday life easier. On a larger scale, the Põlendmaa wind farm is an important step toward Estonia producing all its electricity from renewable sources by 2030." Read more (in Estonian) ⬇ https://lnkd.in/gVR9ZhFA

Bussines development between Germany and the Baltics | clean tech | energy industry | circular economy | geothermal
There is finally a concrete date for other step towards Europe of the Baltic states. The Baltic states will decouple their electricity transmission networks from the Russian controlled BRELL on the February 8th 2025. Connection to Central European Synchronous Area (CESA) will follow the next day. Considering the installation of nine synchronous compensators in the Baltics and two Battery Energy Storage Systems in Latvia the total cost of €1.6 billion sounds reasonable. https://lnkd.in/dmE6TYPD #europe #renewables #sustainability #grid

☀ At the end of last year, Sunly opened a solar park in Kilingi-Nõmme, which features a storage battery of 2 MWh, making it the largest energy storage solar park in Estonia. Put differently, this facility would be capable of meeting the electricity needs of 1500 residents for at least an hour. According to Peeter Raudsik, Head of Regulatory Relations at Sunly, the experience of other countries indicates that if electricity production depends on changing weather, then short-term balancing is crucial for the electricity system. This is why Sunly is considering the option of adding plenty of storage to our solar and wind farm developments. ⬇ Read more (in Estonian):
