Architect on site inventory!!! Architect visits a site to assess the inventory and topography of the land, they typically follow a structured approach. Here’s a breakdown of the key steps and considerations involved: ### Preparation Before the Site Visit 1. **Gather Documentation:** - Review site plans, zoning regulations, and any existing surveys. - Collect information on utilities, easements, and environmental constraints. 2. **Define Objectives:** - Determine specific goals for the visit, such as assessing land features, checking inventory of materials, or identifying potential challenges. During the Site Visit 1. **Topographical Assessment:** 2. **Inventory Check:** 3. **Site Boundaries:** 4. **Surrounding Context:** 5. **Environmental Considerations:** 1. **Data Analysis:** 2. **Report Preparation:** 3. **Follow-Up:** Conclusion Conducting a thorough site assessment is crucial for successful architectural design. It helps ensure that the project aligns with the physical characteristics of the land and meets regulatory requirements while considering environmental sustainability. #architect #site #inventory #land

Today we did our colum marking & I was shocked to get a text from the contractor “Drawing full change madam” Usually we never start without site survey drawings. But, since the work was from a close relative we agreed for preliminary drawings. As our work was out stations we were unavailable to visit the site prior and as it was a sudden work we had given drawings based on our clients data available. The contractor had taken measurements only to do the colum marking, unfortunately the site survey wasn’t done earlier. He trusted the drawings in hand and marked the columns. Luckily he realised there are few things missing the site boundaries was smaller than the given. He informed the client and also me. The client was not able to understand the situation & they told him to proceed but I discussed with him and checked the site status. Fortunately major blunder was avoided. The contractor and we arrived at a mutual solution to start after everything is sorted out at the earliest. Lesson learnt as Architects we are pushed to comply but we have a greater task at hand. Customer is not always right take a second glance and verify with hard facts not words. 1. Never start without proper site survey drawings 2. Visit the site prior to the design process 3. When there is doubts check and make clear specifications 4. Trust your instincts & knowledge don’t follow blindly to clients requests. Although the saying goes “Customer is always right but we can’t say that 💯as architects.” I know I have made mistakes but it’s good to learn from them and move on. #architectsdiary #lessonslearnt #architect #construction #contractor #buildingdssign #coulmnmatking #civilengineers #Architecture #Construction #Design #Sustainability #InteriorDesign #BuildingDesign #UrbanPlanning #Engineering #GreenBuilding #SmartBuildings #ArchitectureLovers #ConstructionIndustry #ArchitecturalDesign #SustainableArchitecture #ConstructionTechnology #BuildingInnovation #ProjectManagement #RealEstateDevelopment #ArchitecturalEngineering #ModularConstruction.

Want to annoy an architect? These 10 statements will do the trick: 1. Can you draw this for free? 2. Do I have to hire an architect? 3. Why does design take so long? 4. Wait, architects aren’t paid well? 5. I'll know what I want when I see it. 6. I need *all* the drawings by tomorrow. 7. I don’t think we need permits for this. 8. Can't you just copy this Pinterest image? 9. Your fees are way too high for "just drawings." 10. My contractor says you’re overcomplicating things. "Copied from Tyler Suomala" Am I missing anything? 👷♂️🏡Site visit today! #DayInTheLife Architect: David Stumpf Architecture Structural Engineer: Providence Engineering Whether it be a custom home or a skyscraper it’s vital that the architect makes time for periodic site visits during the construction process. Architectural site visits are a necessity, and one which some building owners try to avoid. I believe it is important to incorporate site visits into the construction process for all of my projects, regardless of the size or scope. These visits give my client (the building owner) a second set of eyes on the project throughout construction, and allow me to verify conformity of the construction with the design documents (the blueprints). Your architect is your representative, they are skilled not only the design of buildings, but also the construction process. This is an invaluable asset to the building owner, one that they should take advantage of. The architect can bridge th gap between contractor and owner; interpreting construction lingo for you, identify questions for you to ask the contractors, and identify potential issues in the field because they have a thorough knowledge of the building before it’s ever built. Most importantly, these site visits, allow your architect to identify if you’re actually getting what you’ve agreed-upon, and pay for. If you have questions, or if you have anything to add to the importance of periodic site visits. #Architecture #Construction #Engineering #CustomHome #realestate #engineering #design

As architects, our work goes far beyond the initial design concepts. The technical drawings developed for permit approvals are a critical step that ensures the feasibility and safety of every project. These drawings represent the bridge between creativity and construction, transforming ideas into reality. This year, I've had the opportunity to work on some incredible projects, and I'd like to share a glimpse into this important phase. Below are some of the technical drawings I've developed for permit approvals. These documents are key to ensuring that every detail is thoroughly planned and executed according to regulations. I'm proud of the precision and detail in these drawings, and I hope they reflect the care and professionalism I bring to every project. I'm also curious to hear from fellow professionals and anyone interested in architecture—what are your thoughts on the importance of technical drawings in the design process? Feel free to share your experiences or ask any questions. Let’s start a conversation about the often-overlooked but essential steps that make our designs a reality. #architecture #technicaldrawings #permitapproval #designprocess #bim #construction #archilovers

As part of our consultancy work, we often encounter "construction drawings" that turn out to be just typical details, which unfortunately don't always work on site. Our construction experience allows us to create sections that are not only accurate but also feasible in real-world applications. This raises an important question: Are these details being copied from a shared library? If so, it's time for an update. When clients are charged for construction drawings, they deserve accurate, site-specific details that work in practice. Providing substandard drawings not only misleads clients but also drives down market fees, affecting professionals who strive for quality. Let's elevate our standards and ensure that our drawings are reliable, practical, and worthy of our clients' trust and investment. This does not apply to everyone #Architecture #Construction #Consultancy

When is an architect truly considered an experienced professional? An experienced architect doesn’t just create beautiful buildings—they optimize the entire process, minimizing unnecessary labor costs across the project. This is where true professionalism shines. My first boss was part of the old guard of architects, over 70 years old and with decades of experience. At first glance, his designs looked complex—oblique angles, curved lines, intricate geometry. It seemed like structural engineers were in for a tough time. But when they began their work, everything fell into place effortlessly. The load-bearing elements were perfectly positioned, and the structural nodes were solved with simplicity. Why did this happen? Because of experience and professionalism. He didn’t just design for aesthetics—he anticipated the structural requirements from the start. He roughly estimated where the load-bearing elements would go and integrated them seamlessly into the architecture. Fire regulations and MEP requirements were also accounted for right from the beginning. The result? All sub-consultants who followed could calmly and efficiently design their parts without needing amendments. Everything was foreseen in advance. #Architecture #ArchitecturalExpertise #SmartDesign #CodesForLife #CreativeArchitecture #RealWorldSolutions #Professional
